I know it's wrong of me to judge

But when friends or acquaintances tell me they like Sarah Palin as a politician, I honestly look at them differently and lose a little respect for them. Really I should just let it go and not care.

I'm the same way!

There's a girl at work that I'm friendly with. I just noticed last week that she had a Sarah Palin bumper stick. I was like WTF?? You really have respect for her?

I did look at her a little differently since then.

I don't dislike her or anything, but I do question her judgement slightly.

I don't think I could. Ignorance is a very dangerous thing. This isn't a mild topic that even old line Republicans can agree on. It's do you believe that Adam and Eve rode around on dinosaurs or not. The whack jobs are off their meds, seriously. If an acquaintance is fine with that, well I would just slowly back away. If a friend is ok with this, well, I would definitely be re-evaluating the relationship.

WTF????? Are you all serious?

are you in high school?

I have a related problem, which is, my beloved -sister- pulls this stuff periodically. Now it's Sarah Palin, 9 years ago it was "but doncha think George Bush seems like a nice guy you'd like to have a beer with?" And so on.

I can't actually back away or break up with her, she's family

My SIL is a Glen Beck fan. What can you do?

I have family who does this too. And when I say "does this", I mean talks about Sarah Palin and her ilk as though they are the saviors of the world and now Obama won't be able to turn everyone in the country into Muslim socialists. And yes, I think a little less of these people than I do my other normal, regular family members.

Judge away. Life is too short to associate with ignorant people.

I was already to type in that I repeat to myself "don't judge" But you got me on this one. I can't take anyone who thinks SP is a good candidate seriously.

Thankfully, I can honestly say I don't have any actual friends who are sarah palin fans (that I know of). Although I have dozens of conservative friends, I've found them all to be very circumspect and intelligent when they discuss their political leanings. Even though I disagree (vehemently sometimes) with the positions they take, there's nothing that would make me lose respect just because of what someone believes in. However, believing in a falsie / freakie like Palin? YOY and DOUBLE YOY!!! I also would very much question what planet that person lived on.

What do you mean you're not supposed to judge!!!! Of course you're supposed to judge and we all judge every day. What's wrong with judging. Truthfully judging got me out of a lot potentially shitty situations. When that married asshole hit on me at work, guess what. I judged him and didn't get involved. And I'm better for it.
When someone tells me that they like Sarah Palin, it tells me that they probably either don't know who she really is, or, if they do, that we couldn't possibly have much in common in terms of some core values. Hey, when it comes to possibly electing people who will be making decisions on my part, I very much judge.

I think Sarah Palin is dangerous but in the US people have the right to love her. I have friends with whom I disagree vehemently about politics but I treasure the friend, so I change the subject.

Seriously.

It's really not wrong of you to judge in this instance. In fact, I'd judge people that didn't judge those people.

MY SISTER!! ugh...She lives in Louisiana. She is educated but still thinks SP is wonderful. I seriously have to leave the room because I will laugh which will cause a huge issue.

My sister visited twice last year. She couldn't believe how many were not fond of her in the DC area. All I could say was, Really?
