in all fairness this was side chatter on sidelines of some id sessions. Interesting responses in here. There are other clubs that were/are mum on GA aspirations

It's a recruiting move to pick up kids leaving GA for ECNL. But then the joke will be on those families who left their clubs for Arlington ECNL, as they will join GA next year.

I am an ecnl parent but I can't decide if I'm more embarrassed to think about the number of Arlington parents who flagged the DCUM rumor or the fact that the club decided to put out a release about it. Stay Arlington, Arlington.

Agreed. Reeks of insecurity.
I’ve only seen something like this happen on a Washington soccer forum…..this is next level. This is actually the second time in 2 weeks they’ve addressed these rumors

ECNL mid-atlantic is a joke. It's Arlington, VDA and Richmond. In Virginia, very other ECNL team is a dumpster fire. North Carolina is not much better.

What you saw today was Edward John Smith hitching Arlington to a sinking ship. MLSNext has far better funding, infrastructure and player pathway than ECNL. Period. Full stop.

At what point do league defections hit critical mass, where Arlington looks in the mirror and utters: "uh oh". ECNL is already desperately trying to stem defections after losing NVA/Loudoun by allowing for the creation of a Frankenstein FOUR CLUB team called Fairfax Union, version 3 (in as many years). It's embarrassing.

But at least Arlington will continue to place at or near the top in a watered-down ECNL. Until one day in the not too distant future, the club wakes and realizes they've become McLean.
