Young, telegenic, politics jibe perfectly with Joes's: my money is on Whitmer. I much prefer her to Klobuchar's dullness and poor managerial style.

That would explain why Whitmer was on The View. Her name isn't recognizable to commonfolk that don't touch politics. I was amused to see the ramp of up publicity as we get closer to Nov.

She's fantastic. I think she's the most likable of the prospects, and someone he feels he can trust, which matters a lot to Joe. Green in some key respects, but almost none of the prospects have much in the way of foreign policy experience. If he has a full term to mentor her, she could do well.

AP was very detailed and data driven with her policy positions, honestly KH did not seem like she could keep up and barely got a word in edgewise. Being a prosecutor entails a very different skill set. I don't think she has the policy chops, at least not yet, and ran a disaster of a campaign, raising concerns about her managerial skill. I get she checks boxes, but I think it would be a mistake for Biden to pick her. She's not a great retail politician and has a weak grasp on policy.

Ugh Rep Presley is too young/green for VP but oh my god how I love her.

She's really sharp. Agree she's too green, but Harris came off as even greener in conversation. I keep looking for it, but see no evidence of policy chops.

Joe will never really trust Kamala again. I’m sure he’s still feeling her gut punch.

I cannot wait to have a woman VP, they’ve got my vote regardless who it is!

If he think he really needs her to win, he'll suck it up, but I agree he's not likely to fully trust her.

She’d throw his little arse out to the dog house on Day One. Lol. He’d be regulated to sniffing interns all day, every day.

President Biden picked Vice President Klobuchar months ago.

Is Pelosi on the radar as a dark horse VP?

Harris isn't AA and not terribly popular.

No. Why would she be? She’s 80.

OP-ed--Black women are insisting on a black woman.

An op-ed written by one far-left black activist. I wouldn't consider that to represent mainstream AA opinion.

Here's the problem with that thought. Black women are going to vote for Biden. There is no way that they are going to vote for Trump. They might pull a Bernie Bros move and "protest" by not voting, but that wouldn't be wise as votes like that only increase the chances that you'll reelect the most racist POTUS that we've had in decades.

Biden is the challenger and even in these difficult times, the incumbent has an advantage. Right now, there are many signs that give each an advantage and some that show them neck-and-neck, so it is pretty close. Biden needs to convert the independent and moderate voters that are at risk to vote for Trump. He needs to ensure that voters who may vote for Trump either stay home or vote for him. Having a VP candidate like Lujan Grisham or Cortez Masto court the Latino vote which is very much in play for both sides. Klobuchar and Whitmer court the Midwest, which are also in play.

While I understand that black women want validation for their years of devoted support, right now, that is not politically wise.

This. Which is why even black leaders like Clyburn won't insist the VP be a black woman. They understand better than the op-ed writers that there are complex issues at play. If polls determine white suburban and working class voters, especially in the rust belt, are the key to the election, Biden and his team will go with a VP pick who polls best with that demographic. I do think Biden will keep his word and put forward a black woman for the Supreme Court, and will make sure his cabinet is diverse though. Clyburn et al trust him on that, but they understand the strategy for the VP pick must put winning first.

Does anyone besides me think that the opinion piece is a little racist?

"Black women are the soul of America." ?????
Isn't this a little exclusionary?
