I do not have a 2028, so no dog in the fight with this AS team. But I do have a daughter playing for a top D1 who didn’t bother with these events, so have thoughts on the value of them. Posters like the above are so misinformed. Suggesting those who make the AS team are the best shows how little they know. This individual fell right into the fear of missing out AS trap. AS thanks you for your money. It’s been known for years not all of the best players tryout for these types of events. They don’t need to. The reality is kids playing for the top clubs that play in the top tournament brackets don’t need them. Why, they are already being tested against the best players and for the older classes they are already being seen by college coaches. If parents have their kids play in AS because it’s a feel good moment for them and don’t mind that AS is charging a hefty fee then go for it. Their financial investment will likely not have much impact on their daughter playing in college. From direct experience, save your money. AS is better suited for players who don’t get the experience of playing in top tournament brackets or get the exposure to college coaches. It is certainly not a compilation of all the best players in a region. |
Well, Joe, for one, can’t make it. |
Who is Joe? This lane old comment always comes from some un athletic parent who has no clue. The PP above summed it up perfectly |
The DC-VA team went 0-4 and the MD team went 2-2. It is clear that many of the top players didn’t tryout for this event this year. The talent pool for Maryland and Va is better then 2-6. I am sure those who did it had fun and enjoyed playing with other kids not normally on their club team, but it was not indicative of the 2028 future performance at recruiting events. |

6 of the top 9 ranked teams at 2028 are MD teams yet they lost to MASS and don’t get to final four of AS.
AS might need to evaluate how they evaluate at tryouts or perhaps the coaching subbing lineup was subpar |
They can only evaluate and play the girls who show up to tryouts. You said 6of the top 9 teams are from Maryland, but those teams weren’t even all represented on the AS team. Look at the roster. No one from coppermine or crush. The top MDU middie (now on coppermine) not there and only 2 girls from M&D. The team was mostly hero’s green players plus some girls from clubs ranked outside the top 50. |
Historically the AS event has not attracted all of the best local players. Either because the players didn’t need the event to achieve their goals as a PP noted or the selection process has been broken. I don’t know if there is anything that will get players to tryout who feel they don’t need the event. To remove the perceived bias the local clubs have to be taken out of the selection process. But good luck prying this out of Capitals hands. This is a big money maker for them. |
Joe Mama! |
| They're 2028s and 3 years from even being looked at for recruiting. There is no need to do an event like AS.. spend the $$ on vacation. |
Probably not advice anyone wants to hear that also went 0-4 at the $$ event. |
| No one forced them to tryout or pay. |
Why? My daughter went. She really enjoyed the experience. Lot of bonding time with her friends. To us, this was our vacation. So, keep your opinions to yourself troll and individual families will make their own decisions. As for the best talent not needing this event. I completely disagree. They may not do this particular even, even though the majority do, best they are always doing something and some type of event. So you keep your money Know and spend it later for college |
Your vacation money was spent at the deleware turf with triple digit temperatures? You might be missing the mark. |
| I’d rather be a rich troll then a poor dummy who watched bad lacrosse on 120° field. |
| The girls had a blast, it was 1-5. They went out to end the summer having fun, working hard in 100+ degree heat and enjoying what they love. If you don’t let them do that, your kids will be burnt out in a few years, as seen by coaches. Plus, no college coaches on the sidelines of 2028 or even 2027. “Let them eat cake” for once! |
