Vaccines are not available for those under 5.

DH and DS were at an hour long appointment with a therapist. All masked. Two days later we get a call that therapist tested positive. DH and DS never show any symptoms. Thank goodness for masks. They should keep the mask mandate until cases are much, much lower and a vaccine is available for those under 5.

There's a big difference between wearing a mask at a 1 hour therapist appointment and for 8 hours in school. Your post is irrelevant.

Masking is not preventing spread in school. Unmask them now. Here's hoping Youngkin drops the mandate, drops quarentining the healthy, and prohibits schools from establishing mask and vaccine mandates.

Remember....you can still vaccinate and mask....its just no mandated!

I will not work 1:1 or otherwise in close proximity to an unmasked student. I will not tie their shoe. I will not open their milk. If you want people to work closely with your child, they need to be masked. We have our own family members to protect, too.

Teachers: please stop worrying about this. If a student shows up without a mask send them to the main office. There will not, I repeat not, be unmasked children sitting in the classroom. I’m starting to think that some of you are trolls. —From another teacher.

I would say 75% of the people posting on here saying they are teachers are trolls and they're not fooling anyone. Our school has a staff member handing masks out to unmasked kids at the front door and we've been told that will continue.

+1. We have a box by the door, but rarely have to hand them out…usually used for kids who have masks that break during the day. I am sure we will have a few kids who will say that their Mom told them they didnt have to wear a mask and only one will actually be telling the truth. And that kid will get sent to the office, the principal/region/people who get paid more than me will deal with it. End of story.

Some teachers actually believe vaccines work.

Covid panic is over.

My infant isn’t protected by the vaccine, so I actually rely on people around me to not behave like idiots to keep her safe. You know, like public health. During an ongoing pandemic that has killed 860,000 Americans. What a fool I must be!

I agree.

A few teachers I know told me that they will rearrange seats so students who are not wearing a mask will seat in the back and masked students in the front. Don’t yell at me, I’m just the messenger.

Well teachers were told to send students down to the office who don’t wear a mask and let admin deal with it.

Does that potentially put the teacher at risk of being in violation of the EO that states: A child whose parent has elected that he or she is not subject to a mask mandate should not be required to wear a mask under any policy implemented by a teacher, school, school district, the Department of Education, or any other state authority.

It seems to me the teacher is out between a rock (1303 and FCPS policy) and a hard place (the EO).

Nope, because until the courts decide otherwise, prior VA law holds (which is FCPS policy) not the EO. The EO is representing a change in policy so if it is challenged it is not effective until the courts decide on it.

More and more kids started coming in with masks on their chin telling me they had covid and it’s okay. I’m expecting more of that to continue. Wearing a mask but not over their nose or mouth. I stopped telling them to pull it up unless it’s completely off. It’s a losing battle with the 16-18 crowd. I see so many with n95s but only looped on one ear. You think your kids have masks on all day but they don’t. I’m tired and just want to teach. I’ll be happy when masks are optional so I don’t have to go through this every day.

How are you dealing with the people with a medical or religious exemption? Just a few more now.

It is absolutely not dramatic to say I don’t want my infant to contract COVID. We have no idea what the long term effects of this will be, but we know they aren’t good. Why, as a parent, would you be okay with that? Mind boggling.
