Healthy people running around looking like ducks is ridiculous—at this point, with vaccines available and a mild dominant strain.

Move to Florida, asshole.

Florida is coming to Virginia!

Will I see you there on vacation?

All the “pretend to be scared” duck faces go there when they want a break from panic theater.

Ha!

Vaccines are not available for those under 5.

DH and DS were at an hour long appointment with a therapist. All masked. Two days later we get a call that therapist tested positive. DH and DS never show any symptoms. Thank goodness for masks. They should keep the mask mandate until cases are much, much lower and a vaccine is available for those under 5.

There's a big difference between wearing a mask at a 1 hour therapist appointment and for 8 hours in school. Your post is irrelevant.

Masking is not preventing spread in school. Unmask them now. Here's hoping Youngkin drops the mandate, drops quarentining the healthy, and prohibits schools from establishing mask and vaccine mandates.

Remember....you can still vaccinate and mask....its just no mandated!

I will not work 1:1 or otherwise in close proximity to an unmasked student. I will not tie their shoe. I will not open their milk. If you want people to work closely with your child, they need to be masked. We have our own family members to protect, too.

Teachers: please stop worrying about this. If a student shows up without a mask send them to the main office. There will not, I repeat not, be unmasked children sitting in the classroom. I’m starting to think that some of you are trolls. —From another teacher.

Some teachers actually believe vaccines work.

Covid panic is over.

My infant isn’t protected by the vaccine, so I actually rely on people around me to not behave like idiots to keep her safe. You know, like public health. During an ongoing pandemic that has killed 860,000 Americans. What a fool I must be!

I agree.

+1. Drama Mama.

You need a dose of empathy and concern for your fellow community members. She has every right and reason to care about her unvaccinated child. People have died-consider yourself lucky if it hasn't been someone you know personally.

People died even before Covid. Nothing new.

From what I can find, it’s people with co- morbidities who are at risk, or older people with comprised immunity.

Oh, just have some patience! Masks will be optional by the end of Feb. The anti-mask crowd can wait four weeks.

The "anti-mask crowd" can absolutely wait until the end of February. But then that's it, right? The "mask-forever crowd" will not start screaming about young child vaccinations, variants, long covid, deaths per day, high risk students, teachers leaving, and so on, right?

If we’ve learned anything in the past few years it’s that government will give you permission to live like a free human being in a few more weeks.

Hopefully. However, if there is another new variant that turns out to be Omicron steroids, they obviously we all need to mask up and practice caution again.

We couldn’t even get back in school without political force.

It will take a law, FCPS is throwing a tantrum.

I think she’s either lying or a serious dimwit.

Covid panic is over.

She still has the right to stay in her house until her child is deemed old enough for the experimental gene therapy, then she can take said infant for as many shots as Pfizer recommends.

Ohhh, you’re an imbecile. Thanks for letting us know you’re not worth our time.

Anonymous wrote:Honestly I find this mask discussion so bizarre. I use to live in the area but pre pandemic moved to MA. Sure, there is a range of comfort of what we allow our kids to do (sleepovers, sports tournaments, etc) but no one I know here argues over masks. My kids don’t care. They had a phase of school non masked this fall. Now we are back to masks bc of omicron. Not really a big deal for them or for us.

We (parents, 3 kids) had omicron in Jan. Not bad at all for us. But it’s not about us. My Dad’s wife is severely at risk. I am very conscious of that. I have no problems getting the maximum in boosters allowed and masking to protect others in our society. I really have no frame of reference of how the anti maskers don’t understand this.

Ps. Do those that are upset about having their kids wear masks at school believe in God? A sincere question. If that’s the case think about why you believe. Isn’t there some messaging that it’s not about you. It’s about showing grace and empathy for others?

What a terrible thing to say and imply.

Not at all. If you think screaming and refusing to wear a mask to protect the most vulnerable among us is what Jesus would have you do, you need to go back to remedial Sunday school. DP
