There are students in FCPS now telling their teachers and counselors that they will kill themselves if they get deported to a country they have never lived in/do not remember living in. Regardless of whether you feel that those kids and their families “deserve” this, the teachers and counselors now have to divert time and resources to dealing with the kids who are now in crisis. Not only does this lead to more teachers and counselors wanting to quit, but it also means less time and resources for your kid. And no, it doesn’t matter whose fault this is. Your kid will suffer either way. I hope you’re happy.

Stop making stories up.

Not made up. I was with some people last night who work in FCPS high schools and this is what they are seeing and hearing. There are a lot of kids in crisis for various reasons, and now here’s a new one.

People need to develop some resilience

Not exactly a realistic plan for teenage brains. You can’t just snap your fngers and make it so.

I know some of you can’t understand this because you lack empathy, but most people who work in schools WANT to help kids who are struggling regardless of whether the district has “tasked” them with this as a “social service” or not. Unlike you they care about the kids. Maybe if you took any time to talk with them you would understand how protective they feel over the vulnerable kids. They’ve probably helped your kid during the school day in some way you aren’t even aware of. Your little right wing fantasy land is not reality and you don’t have as much control over this as you think.

I know you can'tunderstand this because you lack logic and reason, but the job of most of the people who work in schools is not social worker. Spending all your time and effort caring about some kids to the exclusion of kids you think don't really need your help is blowing up the mission for a side quest.

And yet that’s exactly what will happen, which you would be able to grasp if you weren’t an idiot. You can have all the hissy fits you want. You won’t be able to prevent the unintended consequences of this stuff. It’s already creating a lot of distractions and is not going to be some magical fix. Even if they deport every illegal child from all the buildings you’ll find something else to be unhappy about. Because you’re a miserable person.

Completely agree.

I have two in FCPS, know many teachers and counselors here, and was raised by a teacher who taught in a title 1 school with a significant number of illegal immigrants. The teachers were/are fiercely protective of those kids and families because they care about them and feel they are part of the school community. They knew their stories and struggles and feel empathy for them. And yes, they will pay more attention to those struggling kids than yours because that’s what they feel is right. You can disagree with that all you want but it’s what happens. I know that really chaps your *ss.

That's fine. But people here illegally. Use dehumanizing language, become a monster. Do better.

You're probably the same kind of moron constantly complaining about how FCPS isn't teaching your child to write. Sounds like you don't think anyone actually needs to learn, so need to complain. Stay mindful. Stay demure, idiot young millennial/old generation z momma.
