Any thoughts?
We will visit. I hear Clemson is beautiful and on a lake but middle of nowhere. UTK is cute but not beautiful but nice facilities and cute little town and villages next to it. DD less excited about SC Ultimate goal is UGA probably (deferred) so need to visit these in the meantime. Has other options too (and some higher ranked) but wanted to check these as we like the warm/southern/friendly vibe. |

Clemson is less than an hour from Greenville which is a cute and revitalized town. Stay there.
Count your blessings if your kid got into all three. Kids would kill for that. |
|
Your descriptions are pretty accurate. Greenville, SC is like 50 miles from Clemson which I only mention because at least there is a decent size airport to fly into..
UTK was easily the most underwhelming campus of these schools. Columbia the most underwhelming city. I personally like NC State if that's a consideration...but I know people seem to hate the campus...but I like it's location in Raleigh. Good luck with GA as we thought that was hands down the best. |

Clemson snuck into the playoffs by winning a historically weak conference.
Tennessee caught a tough draw having to travel to Ohio State for the first round, but the cold weather won't have the impact some are saying it will. (Do people not realize how cold it gets in Knoxville?) South Carolina was the "hottest team in the country" at the end of the season and got robbed of the last playoff spot. Just ask them, they'll tell you. |
| My kid like SC the best, campus, “city”, kids-visited 2X. Next was Clemson, nice campus but really didn’t notice a lake. Small college town, driving in and out nothing much there. It was summer so not a good feel as not many students but those we encountered were nice. The UTK. Good facilities, not beautiful. Knoxville is great. Keep in mind unless you have insane stats you will most likely get deferred at all three( or 2) for EA. It was that competitive this year. |
We love UGA and my other kid is there. Fingers crossed |
Thank you. My kid did get into all 3 so we are grateful! (And got money to TN). UGA would likely still be the top pick if accepted. |
| My preference among those three would be Clemson because of the size, about the size of UVA. My dd has a friend at U of SC, she contemplated transferring her entire first year because the size was overwhelming. |
|
We hit all three in the same trip. Flew into Greenville. Hit Clemson. Back to Greenville. Hit SC the next day then drove to TN. It was a beautiful and fun drive. This was during spring though.
(Then we flew to U Miami. Lol. Talk about hitting a diverse set of schools in the same trip.) The memories of these trips are priceless. And bonus to you because you are already in. |

Thanks for your input, Dobbs dork. |
And what were your thoughts? |

SC campus surprised me with how nice it is.
DC is a sophomore in the business school and loves it there. |
Clearly you're in the minority of what kids want these days. Yes there are many other "better" schools but most kids want this. Prob cause of snobs like you. My DC isn't getting into Michigan or an ivy. May consider Indiana. SEC is something so special though. |
| Columbia is an awful city, but SC honors or business is a great education |
