I’m sure nobody cares, but as a Magruder Mom I find the bickering about snacks to be poor form.

My child was in a shooter lockdown in California for 3 hours.

Often it's a case of not knowing if there are more shooters, weapons, plans, and consequently = vulnerable children.

He was 6 years old and hid behind a chair with a friend. They all took turns peeing in the industrial sink in the classroom as that was the only option.

Really I think worrying about peeing and snacks is just, well, so disconnected from reality that it's disturbing.

Another Magruder parent here. After they had the suspect in custody, they very methodically emptied each classroom and checked each student against the daily attendance record, determined who needed to take the bus, who drove themselves, who walked, and who had a parent waiting. Then they loaded buses, then drivers, then walkers/parent pick up. My kid said that it was slow, but methodical.

The press conference shouldn't have been held until the event was over and it wasn't over.

The press conference shouldn't have been held until the event was over and it wasn't over.

And if they didn’t give an update you’d be complaining that it took so long to have your elected officials tell you what was going on.

It was a school dismissal. Does it take 3 1/2 hours every day to "sort" students? Of course not.

Not to forget that during the press conference the police chief and McKnight spent the entire time complimenting each other on how “flawless” the response was, with McKnight only mentioning the kids as an afterthought. While the lockdown was still ongoing. I will forever be disturbed by that. Not ever going to forget it.
