Yes.

The lack of basic science education displayed on DCUM never fails to amaze me.

PP, tectonic plates don't work that way. It's not a movie.

because everyone kept referring to it.

But clearly that theory is wrong since we know they went West.

Regarding those with Amelia Earhart-related comments: FYI, there is a group that has been looking for her plane, and it might be discovered this year.

Do they not have CNN in Malaysia? Do the Malaysians know the rest of the world is laughing at their incompetence and the more they stall and act coy the more their national reputation is damaged? They look like a bumbling third world nation.National airlines are soo mid 20th century.

Not to zing off in another direction, but from a skilled pilot:
...And at least one news report described altitude excursions between 45,000 feet and 23,000, which one pilot suggested might have been done willfully to render passengers unconscious. But this strikes me as behavior that would also be consistent with the airplane flying completely unattended with the autopilot off. Though these oscillations are larger than I might expect, it would be a natural behavior for the airplane to fly relatively large but gentle pitch oscillations.

This would be true especially if the airplane's auto-throttles were also for some reason disabled. There have been statements made that such changes could only be made by a skilled aviator, but what "skilled aviator" cannot hold altitude within 20,000 feet?....

Gives me the feeling "ghost plane"

So you do not think that most people now consider Malaysia incompetent? Or you don't like to hear it? Because everyone is saying this.

The lack of sense of humor displayed on DCUM never fails to amaze me. Aspy?

No, everyone is not saying this. Just because a country does not have the equipment, financial background, personnel, and experience to handle something like this, does not make them "incompetent." The Malaysians are trying - through aviation treaty, they HAVE to take the lead in the investigation. Their investigation issues are not for lack of trying, but lack of being unequipped. There is a difference. Do you think the UN like hands out top of the line technology and training to every state at the beginning of the year like a first day of school or something?

Me too - why the erratic flying if there is a skilled pilot?
