No, the PP clearly is making fan of rabid haters who go down the rabbit holes. For a fan who enjoys that kind of thing as a puzzle, more power to them. I am not into it. I don't feel "trained" to do it. I just browse reddit and see what people come up with and think "oh, that's interesting" but you don't even need to do that to just enjoy her music. I vaguely remember reading about the orange doors but I, a casual fan, don't know as much about it as what you wrote. I would think a hater would not follow the rabbit holes since it's so unpleasant to them. It's strange if they do. |
| Nobody in real life has cared about this album after the week it released. |
I agree fortnight was a confusing song In part I think because it's a mash up of the joe breakup, the first matty breakup, longing for him, reconciliation with matty, and the second matty breakup. Much of the album and that song in particular is shmashing it all together, which is how she experienced 2021/2-2023. But otherwise ttpd is one album where she doesn't play up the persona her fans want. It's my favorite for that reason. |
my 11 year old daughter is still listening to it. It lasted longer than some other recent pop star new albums. But oddly, I've only heard Ophelia on the radio 2-3 times. It hasn't hit heavy radio rotation of sabrina's man's best friend album songs (which my daughter never listens to despite listening to her last one a lot). |

Well, someone is listening because it is still all over the top of the global and especially the US streaming charts:

| Am I delusional, or does Ruin The Friendship sound just like the opening of When We Are Together by The 1975 and It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over by Lenny Kravitz?! Did she choose that deliberately? |
“Dominance”? It is indeed a cringey song, but you’re reading waaaaaaay too much into it. |
She’s not my “leader,” weirdo. I don’t know or care about any of those things. I just like her music - is that allowed? At any rate, you just proved the point with your knowledge of these things that only the most ardent Swifties would know about. So clearly, you are a Swiftie yourself. Otherwise, why would you care?
|
Nope. That is what it means. If you can’t understand the implied/implicit meaning behind things, cool, but those kind of statements (this is like a guy saying he gets “wood” when a woman talks bad about him) have dominance/power behind it. Especially when Taylor is clearly top of the music food chain at the moment, this is a power play. By all means, give it your own shallow reading, but it is CRINGEY!!! |
If by "not much of a fan" you mean someone who enjoys the music but doesn't dive into the type of obsessive research that you clearly do, then sure. Whatever you say! I'll continue enjoying (most of) her music without any of the unnecessary distractions people like you thrive on.
|
Exactly. Which brings us back to the point that the haters are MUCH more obsessed with her than the fans. DP |
Good grief. You need a new hobby. |
DP, but the question is - why is a hater like you ALSO spending time on her Easter eggs? When I dislike an entertainer for whatever reason, I make a point to *not* pay any attention to them. So funny that you do... exactly the opposite. |
I agree with the bolded. The wet line is awful and totally ruined the song. Wood is awful too. I definitely skip those songs. But "hates her fans"? No. That's just a bizarre take. I think in so many of her songs, she admits to being a socially inept "weirdo," and that is endearing to a lot of people who are the same way. She is awkward, endearingly so. And her fans love that about her. |
+1 Yep. Like the haters who constantly seek out threads about her to tell us all about these wild rabbit holes and Easter eggs they've been researching - oh, but they also really hate her, and don't you forget it! It's all so amusing. |
