This is nutty. Michigan is the firewall - Dems have swept all statewide offices, flipped the legislature, and put an abortion referendum on the ballot for November.

MAGAs don’t know about any elections except 2016.

In 2020, there was a big question about mail service and whether ballots posted would be received in time. Louis DeJoy started in May 2020 and in September he was saying that he could not guarantee mail delivery of ballots would be received by some state deadlines. DeJoy was saying it could take 2 weeks for some ballots to be delivered.

People who asked for mail-in ballots were returning them early to ensure that they were received by the Board of Elections by the required date, so many people were sending them in as early as possible.

Mail delivery has normalized again and so people are less worried about how long it will take for mail to be delivered.

Here is a description of some of the mail issues that the USPS was facing in 2020 just months before the election:

Harris only needs MI, WI and PA.

She's losing Michigan. So she needs to get WI, PA and NC.

I don't believe she's going to get NC, FL or GA.

Until about 2 weeks ago, Florida was still pretty safe. But after the Haitian comments from Trump and Vance the last couple of weeks, that may have been a major mistake. The legal-to-vote Haitian demographic in Florida numbers about 500K. There are many who have not voted in past elections and Trump won Florida in 2020 by about 370K. With many seniors in Florida being disenchanted by Trump after his handling of the pandemic and endangering many seniors, many of them have turned away. Additionally, many youth (18-29) voters in Florida are registering for the first time to vote on the Florida abortion measure and protect their reproductive rights (men and women). Those two groups were not likely to be enough to tip the scales, but add in the Haitian voting bloc and the three groups have a chance to turn the state.

Trump and Vance may have made a very poor decision that would lose them a normally safe state.

Basically, no one should compare any election to 2020 because it was so effing weird.

Seniors want to make sure they have their social security and both abortion and pot are on the ballot.

Kamala is polling unusually well with seniors, who I guess are afraid that the MAGA nuts will cut their entitlements, or who are just tired of the Trump circus chaos and uncivility. So Florida, the Harris campaign isn't spending much of their efforts there, but there's a competitive Senate race and ya never know...

There are not 500k Haitians that can vote in FL. You need to subtract out people that are under 18 and non citizens. The number is still large it’s more like 200k though.

Florida has more registered Democrats than Republicans in 2020. Now there are more registered Republicans.
By more than one million.
