Same thing happened in Wags. They are in desperate need of a goalie. The second goal was off a penalty kick. The game was pretty even through out. The Richmond Strikers however are a much better Technical team than the other top teams including Louden. They are such skilled passers and have some outstanding players.

Unlike you, I actually saw the Arlington-VSA game. There wasn't a penalty kick awarded in the game. The first goal was defender error - there was no one in front of the shooter. Shots from distance in high winds are hard to handle on turf. Seen the Arlington keeper several times now, and she's one of their better players.

I agree the Strikers are a much better technical team though. Loudoun is closer in style to VSA - larger players trying to muscle the ball down field and see what pops in. Arlington has some work to do. All the pieces are there; sometimes they fire, and sometimes they don't. The put up five against Shenandoah (VSA only two), and four against VYS in a win (VSA only a 1-1 tie). They struggled as a team against VSA though.

Everything changes next year.

It does change next year, the best players from VSA & PWSI and outside clubs combine

And the best players from Kickers as well as outside clubs join the Strikers.

Easy Formula. Best + Richest + Dumbest = ELITE

No Arlington does not have all the pieces. They have serious deficiencies at forward and midfield. The technical skills are just not there. They are a physically team without the foot skills for the most part. They have trouble complete passes and turn the ball over with regularity. The speed of play is super slow(see technical skills). This formula does not translate to the full field. They have an okay defense but that is because of one really good player. Some of the defenders seem to panic with the ball at their feet and just kick the ball long to no one or the other team.

Shenandoah was the weakest team in the flight and should have been a flight lower. Shenandoah is ranked 16th or 19th in the state. The other teams in that bracket were between 2nd -7th in the state. Call it home tournament cooking. In the VYS games, Arlington was losing 3-1 in the second and got lucky/VYS blew it. It happens at u12. Arlington is clearly behind the Strikers, VSA, Loudoun and maybe VYS(have not seen enough of them). Arlington has not been improving like the other teams and that goes back to last year.

That Arlington team won almost every game at U9/U10. Results at younger age groups does not translate to success at older age groups.

Yeah you look for trends. I do not think Arlington is trending up. Nothing against them but they are clearly out of the top flights for the large tournaments. It’s hard to get back in to the top flights because of the way points are awarded. Winning at u9/u10 means nothing.

The teams begin to change significantly year over year after U9/U10, and despite the obvious examples to the contrary, a lot of multi sport athletes begin to lose advantages attributable solely to pre-adolescent athleticism at elite levels if they have not also developed skills and playing speed. This seems to be a particular issue at several area clubs.

If Arlington DA gets an actual goalkeeper plus the incoming 4-5 recruits from the other local club they'll be in very good shape. They have lost crucial goals and games due to awful goalkeeping and yes they do need a new defender or two.

Arlington red coach has not prepared the girls for DA. Any Arlington red girl that makes DA will need a summer of remediation to get up to speed.

LOL ...so most of the team? Well results are results. If you have to replace 4-5 plus the goal keeper you are in trouble. It’s hard to get other girls to join a team if there is a lack of players. Good players recognize other good players. They may not come specially technical players.
