900 unvaccinated DC firefighters could lose their jobs Sept 30

They should start randomly firing these idiots, maybe one today, then 10 tomorrow. The remaining guys will be sprinting to the va vaccination site. Fire is an awesome job with great benefits. Just the idea of losing a pension will make these guys nervous.

Agree with the others. It is extremely hard to get a DC firefighter job. I recently saw the number of applicants for a new class of recruits and it was in the thousands for a class of maybe 20.
Also, there are plenty of current firefighters who will do overtime.

This is one field in which the city has the upper hand in terms of requiring vaccination.

This really isn't true except among dumb, young enlisted folks. My husband's agency is 92% vaccinated voluntarily and about to be 100%.

+1. Take away their pensions, too. I’m incensed that my young child is at risk because some man-baby wants to make a political statement. The best way for children to be protected is for all adults to be vaccinated. I have zero respect for any unvaccinated adult at this point and that includes some idiot members of my extended family.

You are correct. There are tons of certified Firefighters in Virginia who would move heaven and earth to take the jobs. There are a couple of hundred certified, experienced Firefighters within my county and within commuting distance. They even train high school students but they can’t work a fire until age 18. They certify about 30 per year from our high schools. Fire the anti vax morons.
