Arlington develops players and steels them. |
For lifelong disappointment and underachievement. |
Why the negativity? |

Probably jealous. |
Does anyone have any insight into when the offers will go out this week? Hoping they will come out sooner than they did last week
|
| Anyone have insight into the method to the madness of tryouts last night (boys)? |
Thu evening or Fri evening |
With 40+ new girls coming out at this age, how does Arlington handle the lower ends? Do they automatically consider DD for the ADP pool or is that a separate registration you need to look for on your own? Currently external to the club, don't know how ADP works. Looks like there are currently 6 teams, so if only 3 new girls/team that seems like maybe 20 will make teams and 20 will be left to look at other options. |
That would be a separate registration. If your kid doesn't make travel, you won't automatically get the offer for ADP. You can contact the ADP Director and ask about it. I believe the ADP tryout is also concluded already. |
| Per the coaching roster 2011 will go from 6 teams this year to 5 teams in the fall. Max roster size is 16 kids but you figure it will be more like 13-14 kids per team so with 60-65 kids already on the teams my guess is initially only 5-10 new kids mostly for red and white would get an offer and then additional offers may go out for lower teams if existing families decline. They typically keep slightly larger rosters on the lower teams to allow kids the chance to play up. |
Interesting. Last night, on 2011 boys side, there were two fields. Each field had about 16-18 kids, and then there were about 7-8 kids in the center at any one time. Most of the coaches were looking at one field of the kids, while there was a single coach looking at the other field. What was going on? And of those 40 or so kids, only 5-10 get offers at all? |
| When you have two fields normally 1 coach is assigned to watch the lower group while the remaining coaches watch the upper group and kids that might have the potential to make that group. Also I have seen 1-2 upper kids get pulled out to the lower group just to get more room to look at other players. Parents read way to much into the shifting. |
Not all of the new kids would accept offers, so 30 kids won't totally be left out, some of them will decide to stay with their home club if they get an equivalent or lower offer at Arlington, or some kids on the lower teams will decide they don't want to keep playing travel opening up a spot. Tough as a first time travel parent to figure out/understand all the variables. |

So are all those kids in the lower group out of luck? |
