Does Biden approve of Colorado and it’s laws or will he again come out demanding the move the game? |
Of course he does. Even though their laws are not much different from GA's. It's a blue state so all is well. |
Does Colorado legally prohibit you from bringing your grandmother a bottle of water if she unexpectedly has to wait in line for a few hours to vote? |
And were their laws the result of a false justification? Pushing a lie that didn't happen? Let's be honest here, the situations are not the same. |
I doubt it. But, neither does Georgia's. Like GA, Colorado specifically outlaws electioneering/ campaign workers in campaign gear from handing out food and water to waiting voters. In GA, anyone can give water/snacks to poll workers to distribute. |
The lie is what Stacey Abrams and Biden said..... that this is a return to Jim Crow. What a bunch of baloney. |
Are you kidding? Colorado has had widespread vote by mail for years. Georgia was trying to get rid of all voting by mail. |
WTH are you talking about? They have NO EXCUSE absentee voting. That is voting by mail. And, it's fine that CO has vote by mail for years. Guess they have had time to make it work. Just like Utah. It takes time to implement this practice in a wide spread manner and make it secure and trusted. CO still requires ID for in person voting. |
This is incorrect. The new Georgia law states that "No person shall solicit votes in any manner or by any means or method...or participate in the giving of any money or gifts, including, but not limited to, food and drink, to an elector.” It says "No person," not "no campaign worker" or "no one in campaign gear." If you give your grandmother a bottle of water so she can stay in line to vote rather than giving up and going home, that is soliciting a vote, even if you're not trying to convince her to vote a certain way. The ridiculous overreach of this provision is why the Gwinnett County solicitor general's office has already announced that they will decline to prosecute anyone distributing nonpartisan food/beverages at polling sites, stating that there is "no rational, legal basis" for this provision of SB 202. https://www.gwinnettcounty.com/web/gwinnett/newsandevents/newsdetails?news=PressReleases/GWINNETTCOUNTYSOLICITOR-GENERALS Also, the National Conference of State Legislatures disagrees with you that Colorado law prohibits campaign workers from handing out food/water. The only other state that does some form of that is Montana: https://www.ncsl.org/research/elections-and-campaigns/electioneering.aspx Here is the text of the relevant Colorado law on electioneering, CRS § 1-13-714, which does not reference distributing food/beverages:

GA was adding in many barriers to "no excuse" voting by mail. So, false. |
They singled out Fulton County and allow anyone to challenge votes. Hmmm, why Fulton County. The part that is the scariest is that the panel is now appointed by the legislature which is hard right! Also, the poll workers DON'T HAVE TO PROVIDE WATER if they don't want to and then folks are out of luck. |
Sure it is. Why do you think the bill focuses on Fulton County? |
Plus, you have to LOVE the photo of Kemp signing the bill with 5 white guys with a picture of a plantation behind them. |
