DC Public and Public Charter Schools
What's your in-boundary school? Your choices are all over the map (literally). You have a good chance of getting into Global. The school is in a higher crime area. |
Some chance at Seaton and Garrison. Unclear to me why you want Cleveland. Stokes no chance. Some chance at Cook. |
Cleveland is extremely convenient, location-wise, and I liked the Spanish immersion element. Didn't put non-immersion on my list at all though because people I know there aren't very happy with it. |

3rd grade -
Waitlist: #1 - Key #1 - Mann #1 - Hyde-Addison #2 - Stoddert #3 - Eaton |
I doubt you will get in. |

Pk4
In at Barnard (thoughts on that school???) Waitlisted Hearst (17) Key (16) Shepherd (10) All other schools waitlisted in spots anywhere from 21-68. |
Yeah I'm not counting on it. I feel hopeful about Seaton though - looks like the past few years they've made ~20 WL offers for PK4, if I'm reading the data right. |
Yes, that could totally happen. I don't think it's that different from Langley for preschool, but if you keep trying for Seaton you will get it eventually. |

For preK 3:
DC Bilingual: #215 Lamb: #324 (any chance? lol) Cap City: #9 (seriously, chances here?) El Haynes: #54 Sela: matched! Happy with Sela and ranked it quite high, but we'll def be watching Cap City closely to see if the waitlist moves. We read it doesn't move very often, but I guess it depends on the year. |
You should get into LAMB SD! Got in in October for PreK-3 with a number that was a decent amount lower than yours. |
| In for PK3 at Capitol Hill Montessori. Anyone have any information on whether they'll still be in their swing space next year? Or other thoughts on their PK program (we'd only be there for PK3 and maybe PK4)? |
What's wrong with Cleveland? DH works just a few blocks away and we have a good waitlist #for the regular program. We currently are matched at a charter a few blocks southeast. |

PK3 mom here and this all super new to me. We are moving to DC this summer and planned to rent near whatever school worked out. My priorities were Spanish for Pre-K and a school near Spanish daycare for my younger daughter, or somewhere both could attend together. We may not live in DC forever so I was less concerned about K-5.
Lotto results anticlimactic because I ranked Bethune 16th St first and matched. I think that's good news? We liked the Spanish and location. Trying to connect with other parents there to learn more. Nearby daycare could be Mana or Estrellitas. Also would love to do free Pre-K at Estrellitas -- on waitlist. We have spots at Communikids in Cathedral Heights (daycare for younger and "free" pre-k for older -- lots of extra costs for food and before/aftercare, but they have been operating during pandemic). Any thoughts on whether Communikids would be better, or Bethune+daycare? Thanks! |
Similar numbers for us for PK3. #54 Maury (IB) and #22 Apple Tree LP. ~200 at Cap Hill Montessori. Matched at Miner. |
| PK3 matched at Bethune and #63 at LAMB Kingsbury. No chance for LAMB right? |
