I worked in maternity at the hospital. I'm all for natural births, but in a hospital setting. I saw several home births gone wrong come through the doors, including dead babies who would have been fine if it was at the hospital. I wanted home birth before I worked there. Now I've had very comfortable natural births (2) in hospital settings and have peace of mind. If birthing center is very near, fine. But it sounds like it's not.

You should maybe watch the opening scene of Pieces of a Woman and then reconsider that choice.

Many hospitals have natural birthing suites these days, seems like a better option for a geriatric first pregnancy.
