trump has the Pentagon planning something big right now.

Both groups are jingoistic low brow Neanderthals, who think violence is a reasonable solution for countries to resolve their differences.

If there is indeed a coup planned, it will have the backing of the military. There may be a few in the ranks who object, but the majority will support it, knowing they’ll be part of the ruling class if it’s successful. Something they’d never otherwise be a part of on their own as a civilian.

I’ve never been as scared to be in this country as I am right now. The next few weeks will be absolutely terrifying waiting to see if something happens.

And if it happens, I can only imagine the fate that awaits me and millions like me. I fear we will all end up in mass graves. That’s what always happens when men like trump are faced with the choice of staying in power.

General Milley was Army ROTC at Princeton. Just sayin.

I think at this point the people who fit this description are... the Iranians?

“Character” and “military” are mutually exclusive terms. Remember, these are the same people who bomb hospitals and strap bombs to dolphins. If you’re relying on them to do the right thing, you’re going to be very disappointed

I'm very thankful that my freedoms and those of my family and this country aren't dependent on people like you.

LOL as retired military, the freedoms enjoyed in this country are not won on a battlefield but in the courts. The ACLU lawyers are the ones protecting your freedoms.

The military was very close to taking your rights away this summer....very very close. Milley was right there with trump.
Right now the military is planning and war gaming different scenarios involving trump and armed militia groups. These planning sessions are not being shared with civilian leadership.

THIS. The FACT is that Milley was imminently about to go much, much farther than merely deploy troops against protestors. Fact. He only walked it back well after the fact, and then only after multiple retired flag officers publicly denounced him. Powell, Mattis, McRaven, Stavrides, and Clapper ALL knew what Milley was doing and they all spoke up, both publicly and privately. But for them, ...

This is la la land. There is no evidence that troops would be deployed. They can't be legally. There were no plans. And there were no troops put on alert -- so it was not very very close. Even if they were, I would not expect those orders to be followed. This is legacy stuff. No one would do this under these facts. You are either Borris or a conspiracy nut.

I think lala land is a good description of many of the posts on this thread....

There are record number of educated minority females joining the military. Are they Neanderthals too? Like my sister, who grew up in a DC suburb, graduated from VA Tech before deciding to go to the military. She flies airplanes, plays 10 different musical instruments, leads her daughter's Girl Scout troop, served in Iraq twice and voted for Bernie.

Neanderthals. Your asinine insult says more about you than it does our military.

This thread is ridiculous. The paper pushers at the pentagon are busy throwing up roadblocks for the next administration, not plotting a military coup ffs. Good grief some of you watch too much TV. I know the last four years have felt like a sitcom in many respects, but there are SOME institutions that are still holding up and I predict they will continue to do so (not without great effort, which I really respect). The idea that “the military” is onboard with a coup is based on nothing, and it’s just a provocation. Magical thinking on the part of people that wish it to be true.

I am sure all branches of government are very busy as this was an election year and the migration of power to the new admin has already begun despite what the news is peddling.

+2 I had some stereotyped opinions of military personnel before I had occasion to get to know large groups of them. Lots of advanced degrees, plenty of Dems. PP's ridiculous post in no way represents the reality.

Throwing up roadblocks for the next administration is what got us, unintentionally, 9/11. This isn't acceptable either.

No problem. I also work for the military, and am a minority female with a degree. The Neanderthal poster is probably referring to people like my dad, who didn't get a degree but served in the Air Force working in the jet propulsion labs. Yeah...real Neanderthal work. This month I've worked on diversity & inclusion projects, cyber security, Inauguration and MLK Day events. Again, real Neanderthal work, I tell ya!

Damn... we’re about to have a coup.

No. We won’t. The military will support and defend the constitution. Every Military Officer I know despises Trump. Even the hard core Republicans. If there is a coup attempt, the National Guard will quickly squash it.

Frankly this. I am ready to believe anything about Trump and Republicans, but I am positive the military is counting the days Trump is gone even more anxiously than us. you may find some nutjobs like Flynn (who, BTW, had no problem betraying the country by getting secretly paid by Turkey while being the NSA) but there are bad apples everywhere. the idea that the US military would support a coup d'etat to reverse the result of presidential elections in the US is nuts. the fact that we are even discussing this shows how deep is the damage that Trump did to the country. plus the GOP knows Trump lost and while guys like Jordan are happy to entertain the loss deniers on Fox or Newsmax, hoping to benefit from the support Trump has among GOP voters, they are cowards and not stupid enough to be at the forefront of a military coup.

Mike Milley sat and watched the Trump administration use tear gas on Americans exercising a constitutional right. The military supports Trump’s lawlessness.

No, they really don’t.
Lots of military in my family only one (my Dad) is even remotely a Trumper. And he votes strictly based on 2A and his taxes...which are the only reasons he voted Trump.
In my circle of people I know, the vast majority of Trump supporters are law enforcement, not military.
