I made a similar comment in the thread on why aren’t people rallying around jealous. I am not the poster above. Does it really surprise that multiple people share this sentiment? |
Not really surprising, but the lack of intellectual rigor is pretty disheartening. |
We can’t afford it. Too much work still needed for K-12, especially with many school buildings reaching age of obsolescence throughout state (built for baby boomers or earlier). |
Another democrat not voting for Jealous who agrees. I would definitely have voted for a moderate like Kamenetz and he had the best chance to win swing Baltimore County |
You're right, it's disheartening, and not ideal, but this is where this horrible partisanship has landed us, and it only makes me want to back my party even more. Plus, didn't you see Hogan in the debate trying to take credit for a bunch of things that the Democratic legislature forced him to do? Gross. |
+1 NP here lest I be accused by the one poster who can't fathom that many people oppose Hogan. Maryland education has tanked during Hogan's tenure, and he's bad for Marylanders who value a life without bigotry (Hogan refused to speak up against the Muslim ban) or violence against women (refused to deploy resources to investigate Christine Blasey Ford's allegations.) I'm voting for Jealous. |
Oh please. He's a moderate. Extreme liberals like you are so tiring with your hyperbole. He has a middle of the road stance, but you frame everything as black and white. He's not bigoted or against bigotry. He is married to an Asian American, a Koren woman who was naturalized 24 years ago, 7 years before they met. He has an AA Lt governor. He was originally for civil unions for gay spouses, but now is a supporter of gay marriage. So, he is adapting. Maybe slower than you would like, but some people believe in progress at a slower rate instead of all at once. He refused to speak up against the Muslim ban because it was a issue for national politics and he has repeated frequently that he focuses on issues that affect the state of MD and he stays out of national politics. Likewise in the Christine Blasey Ford case, he said that the state police would not investigate the allegations because it was a county issue. MD state law enforcement has a standing policy that local jurisdictions handle local cases and the state police only get involved when the appropriate local jurisdiction requests it. So, Dr. Ford's allegations were the appropriate jurisdiction of the Montgomery County Police. MD State Police would only step in if the Montgomery County Police requested state assistance. The Montgomery County Police said that they would investigate if Dr. Ford would contact them to open a case; she did not. So as far as MD LEO, they ball was in Dr. Ford's court. She could contact the MoCo Police to open a case, but didn't. If she did and the MoCo Police asked, MD State would have stepped in. But it would have been a huge breach of protocol for MD State Police to step in and investigate the case without any of those earlier steps. This decision had nothing to do with the governor. These are long-standing policies in place that have been in place long before he was governor. He was not going to make a gubernatorial executive decision ordering the state police to violate a victim's right and a county's jurisdiction to insert himself into national politics. |
| I like Hogan, but I can't bring myself to vote for a republican at this point. |
I'm struggling with that. I haven't voted for a Republican in years. Hogan is one of the few I'm okay with and I don't think Jealous is qualified. |
You're just as bad as all those Republicans who couldn't bring themselves to vote for Hillary Clinton despite despising Donald Trump.
No wonder we're a so divided country. And the good people in the middle are losing out because of mindsets like yours. |
Same here. I would have had no trouble with a number of the other Democrats in the primary. But Jealous is just too far left and Hogan has been fine. I don't really like voting for a Republican in this environment, but I am pretty sure I will since I believe Hogan will ultimately be better for the state than Jealous and that's more important. |
| Vote for the best candidate, not what party he/she belongs to. Hogan has done a good job the past four years cleaning up the garbage and destruction O'Malley left behind in Maryland, let him continue his work. Jealous's positions are so extreme...more left than California. They have Silicon Valley and Hollywood to pay for their crazy ideas...we don't. |
| The Baltimore Sun in the Washington Post are both endorsing Governor Hogan. He is governing from the center and I like that. |
|
The Baltimore Sun endorsed Larry Hogan.
Wow. That is saying something. |
| Im not voting for that no neck obese hogan |
