My first thought when I read OP's post was good lord, this woman has children! No wonder so many people grow up damaged by their parents. |
| There were a bunch of quilted vests in stores in fall. We can't wear these anymore? |
The cool moms of Arlington are wearing skinny jeans or “Moto” leggings with their booties and off the shoulder slouchy shirt as far as I can tell. |
Please don’t let people like OP call the shots. Wear what appeals to you. |
I'm with you on this one, it's definitely misogynistic. In fact it sounds like something out of a PUA manual. And for what it's worth, I think young women are more beautiful on the whole than they were back in my day maybe thanks to instagram/youtube tutorials and better skin/dental care. - old average looking kinda of dumb riding boot wearer. |

So, I don't think that bitchy behavior is exclusive to the SAHMs, but, I do think there is some truth to the fact that SAHMs are able to spend more time in their kids' schools. So, they do often tend to run things socially at a school. I am seeing it with my preschool and its our first rodeo with school. The SAHMs who chat at drop off, perfectly coiffed in riding boots and quilted burberry are a different breed than the ones who drop off in yoga pants and sneakers. They are more cliquish and not as friendly to outsiders. This is a preschool in Chevy Chase.
I am not even commenting on the attractiveness of these women. I am just talking about attitudes and attire. |
hmmm...most I see are in active wear. |
Bitches be crazy. My school has a game night in a couple of weeks, and I dread going. I think kids will have a blast though, so I will probably suffer through... |

There is truth to the saying, “An Idol Mind is the Devil’s Workshop.”
And why are people offended by the term housewife? The term is still used as evidenced by the Bravo TV shows. I’m not trying to be a smartass. Functionally, what is the difference between a housewife and the relatively new term, “SAHM”? When you think about it, the term housewife makes one envision a mom who does not work but spends much of her time cleaning, cooking and looking after the home for her family. A SAHM just means that you 1) do not work and 2) stay home but doesn’t say anything else about how you spend your time. This is why I prefer the terms “housewife”and “working mom” vs. SAHM and WOHM. On an application you would be forced to put “unemployed” right? Even if you claim what you do at home is “work” you’d be considered a volunteer because you aren’t paid. Not understanding why people get insulted by it and that’s what people think anyway. Maybe DCUM should come up with a new more accurate term. |

The only reason women haven't cracked the glass ceiling yet is other women standing on their heads.
They continue to tear each other down. |
| Just so I'm clear - is the boots and vest thing the same thing as the Han Solo look? |
I do not own these boots and a vest. Does that mean that I'm not part of the "cool" girl crowd? (Making an emergency run to TJ Maxx today) |
This unicorn?
