Pretty sad, really.

Why? If Latinos truly feel threatened by a candidate & his policies then I think their voices should be heard.

It's not hard to understand why they'd feel that way:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2017/10/26/a-10-year-old-immigrant-was-rushed-to-the-hospital-in-an-ambulance-she-was-detained-on-the-way/

Nobody is saying their voices cannot be heard. This ad is unacceptable. It is inflammatory and blatantly false.
And, I think it will backfire on the Dems.

It is false that racists and white supremacists support Gillespie? Really?

Racists and white supremacists support Gillespie. Therefore, everyone who supports Gillespie is a racist or a white supremacist. Right? That's how I learned it in school.

No, but if you don't want to be called a racist and a white supremacist you have to stop taking support from racist and white supremacist. This "wink, wink, nod, nod" crap is getting a little old.

I'm not a politician, so I don't take support from anyone. As a citizen, however, I'm not going to align myself with Democrats when I don't agree with many of their positions, and I'm sickened by their identity politics. So, I guess I'll just stay a Republican, disavow racism, live my life as a good person, and know that being a Republican, like I have been my entire adult life, does not suddenly make me a racist. And if you feel you need to, then go ahead and continue claiming that it does.

+1,000

You are not alone, my friend.

+ 10,000 But I am getting fed up with the venom with which liberals speak of, and to, anyone who didn't vote for Hillary. I've found that when you speak to liberals and they start their rant about how despicable Trump is, they become enraged if you don't join in with their hatred, 100%.

That is true on this site, pp. But, IRL, many liberals are quite friendly and kind. The mask of anonymity seems to empower people here to lash out with hate and venom.
I have no doubt that some liberals who post here are hateful in real life. But, my liberal friends are not so.

Are you a liberal? I wish some of the reasonable liberals would speak out against some of the horrendously bigoted and sexist remarks when a liberal spews them, since it does give liberals a bad name and negates their claims that they are the party who is opposed to bigotry. For example, when a liberal calls someone "Jew boy," as happened this morning, it's pretty bad. I remind myself that such a person is a rare bigot among liberals, but then I would ask liberals to return the favor - and stop painting all, of even half, of all conservatives as racists.

No, I am a conservative. But, I do have very liberal friends who are very nice people.
I, too, am tired of the mud slinging and the name calling. I also believe it is a small, vocal, minority of people who post here who do this.
I try to live by the mantra that I don’t say anything here that I wouldn’t say to my spouse or my children.

I thought this was a pro-Gillespie ad that would appeal to his base.

When liberals (above example) make these types of comments, I get concerned. I hate the fact that Gillespie may lose, and we will have in charge Democrats who despise half their constituents.

The ad is repulsive.

The country is going to hell in a hand basket. There is no middle ground anymore. The extremists in both parties, far left and far right, are ruining the US with their crazy ideas.

I wish VA would change their governorship to four years so I don't have to listen to this shit in off election years.

Unfortunately Gillespie makes Manafort seem principled.

So you'll disavow Democrats because you "don't agree with many of their positions" but will stay a Republican DESPITE their racist policies and positions. Yeah, that makes a shit ton of sense. Good luck with the mental gymnastics.

It makes a lot of sense once you realize it's not despite those policies and positions but because of them.

How do you know that? If you honestly believe that all conservatives are racists, then you are delusional. If it's a fact that half of all Americans are raging racists, then we as a country are effed up. God, you must live in complete despair. I'm so sorry.

I don’t think all conservatives are racist. But everyone who still supports Trump after all that has happened most certainly is. 100%.

I have an easy remedy for you: Don't demonize people because of the color of their skin, and you won't be despised.

And, for you. Don’t assume that others demonize people for the color of their skin. In fact, don’t assume that others demonize people at all.
It will serve you well in life.

I do not support Trump, and I didn't say that I did. You might want to watch how freely you go around accusing everyone of being a racist. You're not doing yourself any favors.

Terrible people. Horrible. My liberal husband's division at work is re-orging to Plano TX. I told him that I'd go yesterday. He is a liberal and wants to stay here. Our marriage will eventually fail if he refuses to retire elsewhere - I cannot live here for the rest of my life amongst these horrible people.

Do your husband a favor and leave him now. You seem like a miserable person.

Based on people I know personally - and here on DCUM - the more recklessly someone throws around the word "racist," the more hypocritical and sanctimonious they are.

In my kids' elementary and middle schools, they have had to ban the word "racist" as it has become such a constant accusation, exclaimed in any and every situation, most of which have nothing to do with racism. The word has become meaningless and honestly, a joke, because of its misuse and overuse.

Wait a second. They do not let children in an ES and an MS say the word racist? Seriously? Where do you live, in Alabama? Not to mention that that is likely illegal.

I heard an ad the other night saying something about Northam being connected to child porn. So this crap goes on both sides -and isn't necessarily funded by the party -there are some weirdo separate groups out there.

That's a Quinnipiac poll.

Illegals vote here. I know this because I've watched the polls and the poll workers simply let them through.

It's even worse than that. Fairfax County is complicit in making sure illegals are not dropped from the voter rolls, even after their illegal status has been brought to their attention. They vote D, and that's all that matters.

How do know they are illegal? You need a drivers license to vote in VA.

As opposed to having a POTUS who disposes half his constituents? Okay then.
