A gun for a hike to protect against wildlife in the OC? No. I can't even make the requisite joke about cougars.
This place is not Australia, people! |
The one being discussed, Tariq and the gun situation! |
That's the same advice you'll find on signpost warnings, which is useful for what not to do and not to do when there is a sighting, but not especially useful if you are actually actively being attacked. Mountain lions are solitary, ambush predators. Chances are won't see it until it is lunging at you. In that case, you are supposed to fight back, to fight for your life and to use any weapon you have available whether it's a rock, stick, pocket knife or yes, a gun. |
Again, advocating carrying a gun while hiking is so stupid as to almost not merit a response. Bears roam through campgrounds in Yosemite, because they're used to humans and they know humans bring food. A bear can do serious damage to a human. Are you proposing that all visitors in Yosemite arm themselves? That is one of the stupidest things I've heard this year, and in a year rife with stupid, that's saying a lot. The following is direct from the website for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife: "Mountain lion attacks on humans are rare. There have been only 16 verified mountain lion attacks on humans in California since 1890, six of them fatal. The last documented attack occurred in January, 2007, in Humboldt County." "Statistically speaking, a person is one thousand times more likely to be struck by lightning than attacked by a mountain lion." https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/Conservation/Mammals/Mountain-Lion I don't know, maybe guns will help protect against lightning. Maybe someone should look into that ![]() |
Divorce has begun:
http://www.eonline.com/news/821067/flip-or-flop-s-tarek-el-moussa-files-for-divorce-from-wife-christina The HGTV couple have officially taken the necessary steps to legally separate, according to People, who first broke the news. Their decision to move forward with the split comes nearly a month after the pair, who are parents to 6-year-old daughter Taylor and 1-year-old son Brayden, announced they were separating after seven years of marriage. |
Cant read over the 10 pages here but what in the world happened? I was shocked even though I always was put off by a seemingly "very intense" side to his personality...I did not get a good feeling...he seemed unusually tense as a casual observer. |
Though shes very pretty albeit in a Cali girl kind of way, her voice....ugh!!! |
Chip Gaines is a real man. Tarek El Moussa is an insecure drama queen. |
Have you read his shitty blog post re: the LGBTQ controversy surrounding Chip and his wife? He's hardly a real man. Probably the furthest thing from it. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/fixer-upper-homophobia_us_5873be32e4b043ad97e4baf8 |
Yeah, I'll read the HuffPo's take on the Gaineses. Probably real accurate. |
LOL. Their church is not anti-LGBTQ. |
No - it is you PP, who is giving out stupid blanket advice based on your political bias and irrational fear of inanimate objects. In Alaska, my uncle and his family members routinely carried a shotgun in case of bear attacks in many areas. Is the OC the same as Alaska? Doubtedly. Is heavily-traversed Yosemite? Also doubtful. But you cannot make stupid generalizations about every wilderness environment. There are times when personal protection is prudent. |
^^ 13:00, I doubt you have much first hand knowledge of "the wilderness".
You are advocating carrying a gun around because of something you heard from family in Alaska. I guess I should be glad you're worried about the bearzzzz and mountain lionzzzomg and not immigrants. You were probably bored discussing pee and Russians and treason over on the Political Forum all morning, so you brought your stupidity here. Leave the politics out of this forum. I will happily report your posts. Let's get back to the topic of Tarek and Christina! Woo! |
Do you have a reading comprehension problem? Or are you just generally stupid? I distinguished between Alaska and locations mentioned up thread. Further, it was some (you maybe?) who made the false generalization that personal protection in the wilderness is never called for. Perhaps it's you who needs to stick to threads more on your juvenile level - like that pee thread you brought up. Now move along honey; the grownups are talking here. |
Yes I'll get my news from Liberal "Fake News" media outlets. I feel so sorry for all of you who buy into that rhetoric which is put out there for one reason and one reason only, to brainwash more lemmings. |
