I was talking to someone about this too - the show and relationship definitely has a different dynamic than the "family-centric" Gaines' show.
However, I also was just told that the evangelical church the Gaines' attends has some anti-LGBTQ views that some (including me) would find objectionable, so that has colored my view a bit on the Gaines.
Oh, you mean a Christian church? Do you distance yourself from all Catholics, and almost all Christians, too, due to the views their pastor or their church?
My Christian church is accepting of gays. I'm an episcopalian. And also a Christian Minister. I would love to see Jesus quoted on homosexuality. He never said one word about it. He talked a lot about hypocrisy, pride, indifference, intolerance, lying, stealing, gluttony, etc. We know homosexual behavior was rampant at the time and in the places Jesus ministered. Yet he didn't think homosexuality was important enough to mention. Hmmmmmmmm.
I distance myself from any church that is intolerant. Period. That is not Christ-like behavior by any definition.
