Sherri Papini: Does anyone think it's a hoax?

This is a HUGE red flag to me. There is no way in HELL that a woman who was missing for 3 weeks, starved to the point of losing 13 lbs, visibly branded, and bruised all over her face with injuries so much more horrifying than can be imagined (in her husband's words) would be treated and released in a matter of hours. There is just.no.way. The cops would want to run every test known to man and have her tested, observed and interviewed. It would take way more than a few hours. This alone makes me think it's a hoax.

If her nose was really broken, then that's something.

But the other "injuries" - including having her hair cut off, don't sound like enough to convince me.

I'll believe the branding when I see it.

I haven't read MOST of the 9 pages of replies but I have a question, which I am sure has been asked and answered already.

WHY? What does anyone have to gain by pulling off this kind and level of hoax?

Depends on what the point of the hoax was. If she was trying to cover up an affair, it covers up the affair. If she was trying to portray Latinos as violent criminals (per her online activity), then this would do that as well. Maybe it's a twofer. I think it's strange that she wasn't admitted, with the medical issues described.

I think she escaped with another man and that this story is made up.

I can't speak to what her motives could be, but if I were to view the whole thing with an extremely cynical eye, I might wonder what's going to become of the $50,000 that was raised to help find her, on a GoFundMe page started by her husband. Or if it's true that she had previously faked her own abduction in 2006. Or if she really wrote that blog post about being proud to be a skinhead that also featured a questionable story of assault by Hispanics. Or if she has read Gone Girl.

I like that the sheriff said they have not released any information about it. It's the husband that has given a lot of details and talking much more than anyone to the media including providing many different pictures and every picture, she's looking at the camera. Maybe, it's a millennial thing.

The worse is, this could be one of those kidnapping related to human trafficking. Kidnap a white woman and sell them to the cartel. I know that sounds more like a movie but it exists in the dark world.

On Good Morning America, the county Sheriff is saying a message was branded into her skin, which sounds psychotic.

Where I'm confused is her husband says all her hair was shaved off, but the woman who reported seeing her on the highway at 5am that morning and called police, says she noticed her because of her long blonde hair. There are some things that just don't add up. I hope she's not lying.

i agree this doesn't make sense. I keep harping on the 87 pounds. Wouldn't they keep her just to feed her? And people get checked into hospitals for "exhaustion." Clearly she would fit into this category!

I believe it. Look at the Denise Huskins case. That turned out to be true. Maybe someone knew of this woman and targeted her, and maybe not. I do find the husband's need to communicate every detail to the public very strange. If you had just been delivered your wife after an ordeal like that wouldn't you close ranks and want privacy? I do think they are both crazy but bad things happen to crazy people and it's not always their fault. We'll just have to wait to see how it plays out.

It's interesting that the Sheriff's office has stated that the public is not in danger (despite two kidnappers on the loose). Either they think she knew her abducters and it was personal, or they think she's lying.

Also, the "negotiator" who was hired by the anonymous donor and admitted the police were unhappy with his involvement, is now saying that the $100,000 ransom may go to Sherri Papini herself.

Why the hell would the ransom go to her? That makes it all look even more suspicious.

I thought about this too. She also did not say anything about her being bruised or beaten, looking emaciated, etc. I believe she said it looked like she hadn't washed her hair in a while, so she obviously didn't have a shaved head then. I supposed it's possible the abuse happened in those couple days after the siting, but seems unlikely.

Is that her in the picture on her mother's FB page?
