I would never date an older guy because I want kids and the risk of autism and other special needs increases with the father’s age. The risk was found to be the greatest in couples with a large age gap (10+ years) with the father being over 40. Most of my late twenties friends feel the same. I’m 27, and 30 is absolutely my upper limit. Luckily, no shortage of men, though I’m now in a serious relationship with someone my age. Many women in the US don't age well. In their 20s, they could easily look 10 years older (think Janis Joplin who died at 27 looking like she was in her late 40s).

The parents I know with SN kids are women who had their kids in mid-thirties. I don't think George Clooney's kids are going to have SN. Or Billy Joel's or Mick Jagger's even those these guys are in their 60s and beyond.

The only issue, as cited, may be fertility. As a 55yo male, all my dating profile criteria and searches include that I have no interest in anyone under 50. You have sex for about 30min 2-3 times a week... I want someone I can relate and talk to the rest of the time.

I'm talking about the epidemic of parents getting their kids labelled ADHD, depressed, anxious, or whathaveyou, to get accomodations in school. Do you really think that a higher percentage of today's kids have such neurological imbalances than those of the Greatest Generation? So I'm telling you Ms I-don't-want-to-date-a-40s-guy to not freak out because chances are, even if your kid turns out normal, he or she will get some diagnosis in his/her lifetime if they are going to spend their childhood here in the US.
