Sanders can't win the general election--why are people so blind to that?

That is totally incorrect. The people who would feel the bite would be those 250k and up. People under 50k would be most harshly affected by a flat tax or national sales tax.

He said something about people want to know HOW we will do everything I have proposed.
His response - the people will demand it.
Sure.
Once again, details lacking.
It will be a HUGE revolution.

Well, that's the truth. He's calling for things that require constituents demand and hold their elected representatives accountable. Without it, nonthing's going to happen. Voters are taking a risk. But I guess it's a risk worth taking.

It's something that HAS to happen regardless of who gets into the White House. We have a Congress that is seriously fucked. We need fresh blood in Congress or it will be a disaster regardless of who occupies the Oval Office.

Bernie says he "reluctantly" attends those tony DSSC fundraisers on Martha's Vineyard - you know, the ones withe the lobbyists and Wall Streeters and other people he abhors. LOL.

Absolutely agree.

I keep hoping that someone will come in to explain to me, like I am 5, how does Bernie's plan help the gridlock and our standard of living. I have heard a lot of very vague things both from the campaign and on here. Call me jaded, but I need to hear more. And saying "but HRC does not have a realistic plan either" does not work. I formed my opinion on that.

It will happen through Political Revolution, PP. The People shall rise up and go forth unto Congress and demand that Congress do their will. Because it is not The People who have been electing Congress all this time, nor groups like the NRA, but Wall Street. And our Brown and Black Brothers and Sisters shall rise in solidarity with the White Workers who flee to whiter public schools, because no divisions exist in this Nation except those of Social Class. We shall elect St. Bernard of Burlington and eliminate tuxedos at State dinners, and all other divisions shall fall away and we shall dwell harmoniously in the land of milk and honey forever.

Sounds good.

Sanders has NO chance of getting the votes to win. He is a self-proclaimed socialist who apparently doesn't believe in God (something about spirituality). Who honestly cares whether it's Sanders or Clinton, as long as it's not Trump, Cruz, Rubio, or any other of the front runners?

And for those who really think Sanders will change things, are you that naive? He can't get elected and he could not implement the changes he claims he can bring about. I feel like the entire country has lost its goddamn mind.

Actually, Sanders is Jewish. But faith should not matter. Doing good things and being a good person matters.
I would agree that if he is going to adorn himself with the socialist label that he needs to do a better job of defining it to the public so that it doesn't scare them off. You would think he has horns on his head the way people react to that label!

Sanders is culturally Jewish but doesn't practice the religion.

Hope to hear from you 6m into a Rubio's term and he gets to pick a Supreme
Court justice. One that will be extra conservative to ensure his base shows up and reelects him.

This is what concerns me the most. Bernie or Hillary, it really doesn't matter. Anyone from the Republican party is going to nominate justices that will dismantle any and all progressive rights in this country.

That analysis fails basic economics. His new payroll tax would not come out of the employers' profits, it comes out of the employees' compensation. And so on.

Virtually every new tax in Sanders' proposals would be passed on to employees or consumers or borrowers or investors. Corporations and the wealthy will figure out new ways to shelter income to avoid some of the new tax burden.

Every credible analysis says his tax proposals do not come close to paying the full costs of the new entitlement programs he is proposing, and middle-income people know this without having to read it.

Nothing every happens, either in the government or in the private economy, without the middle class bearing a substantial portion of the burden. That is just the reality of the national economy and why the Fed and the financial markets are built around mostly middle class indicators such as housing starts, residential sales, retail trade, and personal consumption.

That's not a function of Sanders, it's an expectation that's put on everyone who has a senior Committee assignment. He did it "for the good of the Party" - the party that's trying to stab him in the back.

Which is why you need to focus on the "get out the vote" and the other work on the ground and make sure that no Republican gets elected regardless of who the Dem nominee is.

He was not a member of said party but he benefitted from its fundraising and took contributions from their PACs.

You are ridiculous. I am a progressive Democrat who worked on Capitol Hill for two decades. I know how to follow the money through the economy. I cannot believe that Sanders proposes a new payroll tax because that is the most regressive way to finance anything. Every Democrat in Congress should know that.
