His tax plan is asinine. Most people earning less that 50k a year would be harshly affected by it. That plan alone will kill his chances.
That is totally incorrect. The people who would feel the bite would be those 250k and up. People under 50k would be most harshly affected by a flat tax or national sales tax.
That analysis fails basic economics. His new payroll tax would not come out of the employers' profits, it comes out of the employees' compensation. And so on. Virtually every new tax in Sanders' proposals would be passed on to employees or consumers or borrowers or investors. Corporations and the wealthy will figure out new ways to shelter income to avoid some of the new tax burden. Every credible analysis says his tax proposals do not come close to paying the full costs of the new entitlement programs he is proposing, and middle-income people know this without having to read it. Nothing every happens, either in the government or in the private economy, without the middle class bearing a substantial portion of the burden. That is just the reality of the national economy and why the Fed and the financial markets are built around mostly middle class indicators such as housing starts, residential sales, retail trade, and personal consumption.
^ You forgot your disclaimer: * This message has been brought to you by ALEC
You are ridiculous. I am a progressive Democrat who worked on Capitol Hill for two decades. I know how to follow the money through the economy. I cannot believe that Sanders proposes a new payroll tax because that is the most regressive way to finance anything. Every Democrat in Congress should know that.
