Shorter PP: I oppose legal marriage for 2 unrelated adult men or 2 unrelated adult women because I oppose incestuous marriage and polygamy. Not a very logical argument. |
Actually it truly is. Can you explain how it is not? |
Because marriage for 2 unrelated adult men or 2 unrelated adult women is neither incestuous nor polygamy. It's like saying, "I don't like pepperoni pizza because I don't like anchovies or black olives." |
| I asked my 17 yo DC about this after hearing her friends call each other "wives" yet almost all of them have boyfriends. Her exact words " I blame glee ..its teaching all girls to be lesbians and my friends and I get jokes from it." Her words not mine.. I don't watch glee and never have But shows the influence of popular culture over kids being cool and fitting in. Being gay/bi etc is seriously not a big deal to them as it was to ppl of my generation(late 40s) and that is a good thing IMO |
"Teaching all girls to be lesbians" is exactly what is going on here, |
Simply go to the information evening, and see for yourself. |
That is not the point. Gays/lesbians were once considered taboo and are now fighting and receiving equal rights. Transgendered are on their role. So why not polygamy? Also considered taboo, also unrelated. Why can't they fight for their rights? Why can't a father/daughter? Cousins can in some states. Why not other family members? No difference. Just perception. |
So, even if this were true, why does it bother you so much? Most people don't fall in love with their relatives (there are strong biological reasons that prevent this), just as most people aren't interested in a committed relationship with more than one person at the same time (trying to maintain a relationship with just one is complicated enough). So how does it affect you if the rare brother and sister, or Tom, Dick and Jane who feel this way about each other are able to get married? |
Most people don't fall in love with people of the same sex either. There are strong biological reasons that prevent this. And none of those things don't bother me but if same sex marriage has to be looked at as a normal marriage so should incest and polygamous marriages. There is really no difference. |
Yes, it is the new trend. Shock value to their parents. Lots of lipstick lesbos. |
| Girls have learned they will get more attention from boys if they feign bi-sexual interests. It's amazing how long a guy can be strung along hoping his so called bisexual girlfriend will invite him into a threesome. |
Now that's pretty funny. These kids are going nuts. |
Actually, it exactly is the point. If you're going to oppose something, oppose that thing -- not something else that is not that thing. Alternatively, I could say that I oppose marriage for an unrelated adult man and an unrelated adult woman, because I oppose polygamy. After all, if one man and one woman can get married, why not one man and two women? There is even historical precedent for such traditional marriage. |
| I'm guessing these girls aren't really bi or lesbians but rather 'lipstick lesbians.' Perhaps they think they'll be more attractive to boys if they act that way. There is so much girl on girl porn nowadays that the kids have access to.. Probably think that's the 'cool' thing to do. |
Huh? You're smoking what?
