Is it now "in style/cool" for teen girls to be in romantic relationships with other girls?

Some of us have a different idea of what "supporting those who are struggling" entails. It does not necessarily mean telling a 14 year old girl, oh sure, honey, go ahead. If you want to be a lesbian for a few years, have at it!! IT's all cool.

Because it is NOT all cool, or OK. And please don't tell me this is something that I do not understand. I understand just as much about it as you do. Just because you raised 5 kids who are straight and so compassionate (so you say), does not make you an authority on anything.

What does your idea of "supporting those who are struggling" entail?

Lots and lots of love. And help. And therapy.

Love is good. Help is good, but help to do what? Therapy is good, but therapy to what purpose?

No my argument is that I am not against it but then how can I or anyone else not be against any other type of taboo marriage? Shouldn't they all have equal protection. Why just gays/lesbians? Because they fight and push for it, march for it, sue people who feel it is not right and don't want to be part of it. That bothers me. It should be all or nothing. You can marry anyone or anything and the whole world has to be accepting. 30yr old man and consenting 14yr old - sure. Aunt and nephew, sure. Cousins - sure. Man and 4 wives sure. All the same equal protection. Polygamists make up 1.4% of the American population which is almost equal to 1.6% of gays in America. So why is now one legal and another is illegal? How is that right?

Well, if you feel that it should be all or nothing, then there's your answer -- it should be all or nothing. Either everybody should be allowed to get married, or nobody should be allowed to get married. Which do you prefer?

^^^although I don't think that there is any state in the US currently where a 14-year-old can legally consent to marriage, or indeed legally consent to anything. On the other hand, first-cousin marriages actually are legal in many states.

And you also think people with religious beliefs against same-sex marriages should be forced to marry them, have to make them wedding cakes and perform at their weddings?

My opinion-
gay- yes
trans- yes
cds- yes
polygamist- yes, where legal
incest- no, not legal. although first cousins can marry...

Yes- I think people who are opposed to gay marriage cannot discriminate. In my opinion, its no different than having a "whites only" sign out front.

Not PP but there are no racial issues in the bible. That is skin color. Two people of the same sex fornicating is living in sin to many religious people. Not saying one is right and one is wrong but you are comparing apples to oranges here. People should not have to go against their beliefs to make someone a cake. I know the articles the PP is talking about and it is absurd. The fact that the LG community went after them like a witch hunt made it even worse. Why would you WANT someone religiously against gay marriage to make you a freaking cake for your wedding?

Are you talking about Jesus' teachings or the Book of Leviticus? Christians who selectively use passages in the Bible really should adhere to EVERY principle as well. I mean, if we're going with your black-and-white thinking. Are you wearing clothing of two different fabrics? Do you touch a woman when she is unclean (having her period)? Do you touch the skin of a pig?

Seriously- there are SO MANY ridiculous edicts in the Old Testament yet some people get totally fixated on homosexuality.

Do unto others? Love one another? Sermon on the Mount? Any of these ring a bell?

Please show me where JESUS said that homosexuality is a sin. That will give credence to CHRISTians casting the first stone at homosexuals. I shall wait for your reply.

NP. Paul in the New Testament talks about homosexuality as a sin. He could be considered one of the first CHRISTIANS.

The issue is actually selling someone a cake, not making someone a cake. Cake bakeries are businesses that serve the public. And if you serve the public, you have to serve the public. If you own a business that serves the public, you don't get to be exempt from the law just because your religious belief says [whatever it says].

Why a person would want to buy a wedding cake from somebody who thinks they shouldn't be allowed to get married is a completely separate issue.

No matter what Paul's beliefs were about homosexuality (or anything else), they (or any other religious beliefs) are not relevant to the civil laws against discrimination in the US.

Do you think that it would be ok to refuse to serve black people, if you owned a restaurant that was open to the public and your religion said that black people are accursed? Do you think that it would be ok to refuse to sell a woman a car, if you owned a car dealership that was open to the public and your religion said that women should not be allowed to drive? Do you think that it would be ok to refuse to open a bank account for a person in a wheelchair, if you were a bank official for a bank that was open to the public and your religion said that illness is a punishment from God and ill people must be shunned? Do you think that it would be ok to sell an old person a gym membership, if you owned a gym that was open to the public and your religion said that old people are ugly and you must only look at beautiful things?

Biblical scholars are not in agreement whether that Paul condemned all homosexuals or specific acts (i.e. Greek pederasts). Try again, please.

Actually a personal business has a right to refuse service.

You already said it. A witch hunt. Let's find a company that is religious. Ask them to make our wedding cake and sue them and show the world how awful they are. When in turn, it is the LG community who is being awful. If they want acceptance it has to be reciprocated. You can not force people to like or believe in you. You have to learn to look the other way.

Nice list of hypotheticals of religions that aren't real in America.

But a public accommodation (which includes bakeries) does not have a right to refuse service based on certain characteristics of the person/customer (which includes sexual orientation in many states).
