+1 They noticed you believe them and feed you crap. |
+1 There is no 38 yo celebrity/model who looks 20. None. Yet, you do. |
I'll be positive - I'm a little past 50 and still look relatively good. Most people are very surprised if they find out how old I am. No, I don't look 30, but I don't look like what people expect 50-year-olds to look like either. I care about what I look like so I work hard to keep myself in great shape. I've worked out since my 20s. I like clothes and makeup. I take care of my skin. Most of my friends look good for their ages, but I know a few who just don't care what they look like. On one hand, I think that must be very liberating. On the other, I get a lot of energy into holding myself all together and can't imagine letting everything go! Everyone ages, it's your attitude and your energy that will keep you feeling good. My parents are very youthful and energetic in their mid-70s and I hope I can do the same. |
That is called being polite. However I'm sure you look great for 52. Women who take care of themselves do look great for their age. |
Sometimes I really am sincerely surprised by a person's age - maybe they are 50 but I would have assumed early/mid 40's, even (rarely) late 30's. There are plenty of women out there who look young for their age. They aren't always drop dead gorgeous, just youthful looking. |
I'm 32 and I cannot believe how much I've aged in the past two years. ![]() |
41 was when I started noticing changes but women in my family age well so people think I'm younger than I really am. I stopped coloring my hair this year and was shocked by the number of grays. I'm starting to get a crepey skin thing going on at my cleavage. |
LOL, I feel like this and I'm only 28. These fucking kids, man. |
That a called being a bitch. There are a few women at my gym that I was SHOCKED to find were in their late 40s-early 50s . I hope to look that good and I know a lot of older 30- somethings that don't look anywhere near as good. |
Gosh I hope that's not true - I'm 43 and I try not to think that way, like the best years are behind me. Too depressing. Because there's no good alternative to aging, you know? We should just be grateful for each day we have our health. |
I think that in your 40's you do begin to realize (if you haven't already) that your youth is pretty much behind you. It's not that 40 and beyond is bad. It's just a different stage in your life. I love the wild, spontaneity of my 20's, even the struggling to make ends meet on almost no money. I also enjoyed my 30's - buying a house, getting married, having our kids. My 40's have been fun, too. The kids are older, not too many stresses, life is pretty easy now. Our 50's will see our kids all the way through highschool and into college - empty nest time, I have mixed emotions at the thought of that actually. 60's will be (hopefully!) retirement - where will we live? Will we travel? 70's maybe we'll become grandparents (!)...we'll have to see what life brings ![]() |
Well people say I look like a celebrity, also! |
You look like a 20 year old celebrity? Cool! Which one? |
I know that there aren't women who look decades younger than their age, but there are women who truly do look younger. I went to see a new doctor who told me not to worry about testing for something because it's not really necessary until later. She was shocked when I told her how old I was. She looked at my forms again to double check. (Why, I don't know?) Then advised me to get the test. Some women really do look younger. (No, I don't look like a twenty year old, but I'm routinely mistaken for someone ten years younger. TBH, it has it's bad points.) |
Me too. I have been in my position for 19 years and when I had a work meeting with several clients and their attorney- how long I had been at it came up. One of the men said ' yea- you started when you were 15'. I laughed and said I was in my mid-40s and everyone there was truly shocked. The one woman in their group was my age and she pulled me aside in the way out to express how good/young I look. This was a multiple PhD, science/law crowd. I do get that shocked thing a lot, but people think my 72-year old dad is no more than 60 and I take after him. |
