I have had a "extra-terrestrial" visit from a dead in-law, and haven't told anybody. WWYD?

My Mom passed away 5 years ago in April. The summer after my Mom left this realm of existence, DH and I went to the beach with our son. The night we got there, there was a horrible thunderstorm. We went to bed, and when we woke up, I told him my dream right away. I did not see my mom in the dream, but felt her guiding me through it and telling me that I should not trust my stepfather (in real life, I never did 100% so I figured this was my subconscious talking). It was a dream that really bothered me, so that is why I told DH. He is quite practical and a total realist. However, when I told him, he said "whoa. I need to tell you my dream". He dreamt that my mom was guiding him to her desk in her house because my stepfather was trying to steal from her. She told him to look for some papers. That was all he remembered. Similar dreams on the exact same night.

In my moms will my sister and I got everything, including my grandmothers jewelry, which is worth a pretty penny. I told my stepfather I am coming over to get it and I had already gotten a safe deposit box for it. So I went over with a family friend. He opened the safe and took out the jewelry. I said "what about that stuff on the top shelf?" . He said "that's mine, you don't need to worry about that". I found that weird, but whatever. He then told me my grandfather had taken all of my grandmothers stuff already...and that part was true. After looking through all the stuff I said " I am going to talk to my grandfather and get the jewelry from him. Where are the photos that my mom took of all of it?" He said he had no idea what I was talking about. I told him, yes you do, you were there when she was taking them. A week later he calls me and says "Oh, buy the way, I found some of your grandmothers jewelry mixed in with my stuff". He had taken 3 pieces out and kept them for himself. Had I not asked for those photos, I may have never gotten them. DH's dream is what had made me remember that those photos existed.

This is a great example of putting a dream to good use. Whatever led to the dream, whether it be a visitation from someone no longer alive or a complex mix of subconscious information and cues in the environment, or ALL of the above, the dreamer used the information to get to something very important. She did not dismiss it, and in not dismissing it she got more information from her husband.

The truth is people use dreams like this ALL the TIME. And the OP's dream is not so out there. Its the call from the POD company that makes it particularly intriguing and also difficult to act on.

As to OP's inability to describe the danger exactly, I have to wonder if any of those people acting so incredulous have ever had a dream in their lives. Dreams can be a combination of highly specific and highly confusing impossible to describe sensory information. ESPECIALLY ones during naps on the couch, I have found. Different levels of sleep have different dreams. Sometimes one environment morphs into another. Its a DREAM. LIterally anything can happen.

I am drawn a bit to the gaslighting and / or identity theft explanation for the POD company call. The thing is, the caller who stole the cousins identity and then called the POD company would not have a direct benefit to making that call, unless the caller from the POD company has stolen that persons identity. But the plot still does not make sense because why would anyone take a call like that and say "OH, by all means, let me give you my credit card because although I personally had no idea I had to move soon, I appreciate the heads up from my (dead) cousin (inlaw) or whoever that was.

So I dont understand the plan as a financial gain for someone who stole the dead cousins identity.

However, it would be a great way to mess with OP's head.

OP are you sure you told NO ONE about this dream? Could it have been overheard? The call seems too perfectly designed to screw with you. Could you have misheard the name given by the POD company?

OP tell your husband about the dream, have HIM call the pod company and get the name of the person who placed the call. You will get too upset making the calll yourself, possibly.

Whatever is going on, OP, it can be dealt with. You must tell your husband, and let him investigate.

Ah yes that is the ONLY POSSIBLE EXPLANATION for OP's story.

I have had a predictive dream, so I do believe it can happen.

Cousin got killed by being run over and dragged by a car.

Sorry, but at this point, I still won't go into details about the scene in which I saw being played out.

Will you at least go see a doctor to get checked out?

What an awful way for him to die. That would haunt anyone. So sorry.

OK so you are sure you didnt tell anyone about the dreams prior to the PODS call.

Ok, so what remains as non paranomral explanations for the call are

1) You misheard the name of the person the POD company said placed the call. (Just from this vantage point, its possible. If your deceased cousin is on your mind because of the dream you just had then you might hear a name close to his as his.) THis is why I would suggest your husband call the POD company for you.

2) Its a standard scam. Im researching this now. I am finding other delivery confirmation scams, but not with phone calls, not yet.

OP hang in there. Try to separate things out. The carbon monoxide detector thing is an easy fix- just order it and you will already have put your dream to good use!

Consider too anything else you may have seen on TV recently or read in the news that might be adding to your sense of fear and dread. Or account for the part of the dream detailing the warning. Or think about why this particular relative would know about this potential threat.

Maybe the way the cousin died is playing into this- did he see his own death coming? I am guessing no. That is very unsettling right there.

It would be best if people do not mock OP. Whatever she is experiencing its distressing and if you have the time to respond at all, then you should do so with some consideration of that.

Everyone who is trying to help- that is great. I dont believe this person is a troll. I believe this happened, and anyone in her position would want to come to terms with it!!

I don't think those who are telling OP to get checked out by a doctor are mocking her. I'm the poster whose mom died of a brain tumor and her first signs were paranoia in similar ways to what OP is describing. I'm not saying I DON'T believe OP, I'm just saying I think getting checked out (especially if she was exposes to carbon monoxide) is a good idea before she lets this consume her.

Definitely not talking about those posts. Im referring to the ones mocking her, calling her a troll, etc.

Getting checked out should be part of it, but its hard to get a same day appointment, so I am thinking the immediate focus is to get it out in the open, tell her husband, have him call that POD company and get to the bottom of that call. That would be usable info right there!

Dreams/premonitions/hopes are kind of like fight club for me. The first rule is you don't talk about it. You don't want to give it breath and jinx it or make it come about.

So I don't blame the op for being dodgy on the dream details/subbing in an example... sometimes you don't even want to type out what you are thinking/feeling/dreading.

I am very interested in finding out what that call was about. OP sorry this is freaking you out so much. But just try, once again, to pull back from that call and get to the bottom of it. THrough your husband. You should not feel embarassed to share this dream with him. Or scared. Its a dream you had and what it means is to be sorted out one step at a time.

I am still trying to figure out what "clown" is a code word for and she is afraid of multiple "clowns" invading her home. Does this have to do with drugs?

I would move. I kid you not. I'd also find a psychic medium and try to connect with the dead cousin and find out what he's trying to tell you. Barb Mallon in Chantilly is reputable. She does phone consults which I think are about $100. Maybe she wo fit you in during this emergency situation.
The dead often come to us in dreams to communicate because you are more accepting of their "visits" this way. Take it seriously.

I've posted before, but have been thinking about this.

OP, before this were you concerned at all about your families safety in the house? From the clown story it seems to me that there were safety concerns before your dreams. Concerns that someone within your family has brought about.

If not that, then you need to see a doctor. Maybe do that anyway. There could be a medical reason for this.

The phone call could easily, easily be a scam.
Anonymous
OP, could you have possibly called the POD company yourself while in a half-sleep? I think this is a true warning sign to safety-check your house, either from a dead relative or from your sub-conscience. Either way, you should take it seriously and do a full safety check of your house.

OP, please tell us what the clowns really are. I don't want them coming after me.
