^^I actually thought it might result in an electrical fire. We had a non-functioning new carbon monoxide detector, too. Turns out that there was defective wiring at that outlet. I actually got a little shock from plugging something in once and called in an electrician, who found the hot wire right away. So, heads-up to the rest of DCUM.
