I have had a "extra-terrestrial" visit from a dead in-law, and haven't told anybody. WWYD?

This is officially the most interesting thread on DCUM right now.

The dreams that I have been having (and only one of them was I actually asleep - the other 2 I had fallen asleep on the couch) were not at all about my DH's cousin's death - but about his warning ME our OUR impending death.

Two nights ago, I dreamed - and this is where I was on the couch, had dozed off, all the lights in the house downstairs on...he had taken my hand and told me "I show you this NOT because I am trying to protect you or warn you against Carbon Monoxide poisoning, but because I am trying to show you that I am HERE, with you, and I am trying to protect you from future harm, which has nothing to do with carbon monoxide, and this is the only way I know how to prove to you that I am REALLY HERE.

I woke up that morning, went to check on our carbon monoxide (rather expensive digital, new detector), and it was totally and completely non-functional.

The things that gets me is, in my dreams, after he showed me the dysfunctional carbon monoxide detector, he showed me -- what I believe to be, an impending death in our family (involving my children), that I am feeling like he is trying to help us prevent? Basically - after he "showed" me the defective CO detector, and felt that (the following night) I was troubled (which meant he knew I felt like, maybe he REALLY was there) he proceeded to "show" me what he was there to really warn me against.

I can't even recount what was "shown" to me, in my dream/altered realtity (I wasn't really asleep). To even depict some of the details of what I "saw" -- I can't do it. I'm literally hyperventilating and about to have an aneurysm just thinking about what it was that he says is he to "prevent".

Seriously - I'm not hallucinating, do not take any medications, am not inventing this stuff up.

Here's the kicker: I got a call this morning, from a business owner of a POD moving company. He said that [insert name of DH's dead cousin here] called him yesterday, gave him our address, and told him that we needed to move ASAP, and how soon could he have a POD delivered?

I fucking kid you not.

OK - so here's the million dollar question: what the FUCK does this mean??

OP, I would take this seriously. However, do try, as hard as it may be, to calm down just a bit so that you can bring your critical thinking skills into play here and use the given information to prevent a problem.

Clearly this really does have to do with carbon monoxide. Did you replace the detector? If not do so immediately, and I would get two so that there is redundancy.

Second, you need to call the POD moving company and get the details of the time of the call and any other info you can get.

Someone clearly did call the POD company, but it was also not a dead person. Just putting that out there- I mean, whoever called called from a number. Someone placed a call- lets assume for now it was a person. Who and why is another matter.

You need to get hold of that phone number. Surely they have caller ID. Or some way of locating the call. I would do that.

One thing I notice over and over is that people will have these premonitions of things and not know how to use the information.

If we take the message literally, then while it has nothing to do with Carbon Monoxide, whatever visited you in whatever form was giving you a piece of info to verify in non dream world. Which you did.

So that means take this seriously. The next message is "I am here". So he is watching? What was his relationship in your famliy- did he know your kids well? What kind of expertise did he have that would allow him to protect you from harm if he was still alive?

Finally, what are the types of reasons a person would have to move from their home to stay safe?

Radon? Fire? Carbon Monoxide? Natural Gas explosion? I mean, moving from the house is pretty extreme. Why would have to not be there for your children to be safe? These are the kinds of questions taht might help you extract usable inforation from this interesting and unsettling experience.

Finally, dont let your fear make you blind to the possibilities. You could have just gotten spooked good and proper. The POD call is the part that needs to be clarified ASAP.

I do not think youn are crazy in the least. It would be crazy to ignore this, but also its critical that if this information you received is to be of use, you must be willing to pull it in and think think think. What is going on here needs to figured out. I can try to help. I will check in and give you a personal email if need be to help sort it out.

OK, I'm sorry (OP here). I know I am a little confusing, but I am so totally and completely rattled!!

I had the guy from the POD company all freaked out. He gave me the number from where he had received the call from, but it just rings and rings.

This dead family member has been dead for 2 years. A tragic accident, but not something that happened recently. Not something that neither I or the family would still be immediately grieving.

google search the phone number

pay some money to figure out who that phone number belongs to. While your at it, compare the number that called you "the POD guy" and make sure it's legit.
Anonymous
what is the number the POD company gave you? Was it your cousin's number? Is it a landline? a cell?

Is the number familiar to you or your husband? Is that number already programmed in one of your phones or is it in an address book somewhere? Can you google it?

OP again - I should have clarifed "recently". It was 2 years ago.

OP here - the guy that died was DH's cousin, just to clarify my original post.

The POD company guy actually used your cousin's name? Had you ever used this company before or did anyone in your family?

Anonymous
and what did the cousin say was going to happen to one of your children?

YES! and NO!

If the cousin revealed something in your house to you that could be tragic, is there anyway to mitigate the issue? Is that what he was trying to impart? Were you given any sort of time line? Honestly, I am not sure if anyone (either here or in person) can be of much help without more details.

It wasn't what he "said". It was what I saw in my dream, when he was with me.

OP here again - I saw it for my own eyes.

Cue - the POD guy, who calls and says, "Yes, Ma'am, when shall I deliver this POD to your address at XXXX MY STREET ADDRESS"?!
