There's nothing wrong with mayo in small amounts.

Garlic mayo, spicy mayo, pesto mayo....yum.

Creamed corn and stewed tomatoes. GROSS.

I wish people were giving the reasons why. I ate spam as a kid and don't eat it now because it grosses me out. I'm sure there are plenty of others like that too. I don't eat Chik Fil A because I refuse to support that business but that's the only food I have actively sworn off. There is no food I have eliminated entirely because it is unhealthy. We don't buy white bread, white rice, or white pasta but eat it out. Only eat fast food a couple times a year but eat plenty of "fast casual" like Chipotle, Panera, etc.

I didn't know that anybody ever did eat Waldorf salads. I thought they only existed in cookbooks.

i remember my aunts making them for tupperware and shaklee parties. WHOA Shaklee!!!

I am choosing to believe that people don't eat this stuff any longer because they don't like it or it's no longer available, not that they reluctantly gave up their favorite stuff because they worship at the church of pure food.

The thread is a lot more fun to read if old food habits are looked at with amused affection, like old fashion choices.

"we" as a society or we as individuals? Things I used to eat (why did my parents allow this?) that I no longer do:

hamburger helper
chicken nuggets
YooHoo
Mac n Cheese in a box

things that I've given up as an adult, not all entirely of my own choosing: bread, frozen premade meals, low-fat dairy, oatmeal, packaged semi-made foods like Pastaroni

I can't believe it was ever successful. We still eat it, but we call it bread crumbs and seasoning.

Any one remember Chicken Tonight? I loved that stuff.

I totally forgot about Chicken Tonight! It was quite tasty.

I loved Chicken Tonight! The best was the "French" kind with the creamy white sauce and carrots and mushrooms in it!

+1 These health nuts are annoying.

They are back. I saw them at Target.

Ooh, will stop by tomorrow.

I saw them in 7-11 the other day as I purchased my slurpee (at least it was a sugar-free slurpee)

Mmmm. Slurpee and twinkies.

Frozen chopped mixed vegetables

Why, mom?

I know fresh is usually best but what is wrong with frozen vegetables?

hamburger helper
low fat dairy. Screw it, give me full fat cheese and whole milk. It tastes better!
sugar substitutes. I used to use them to reduce calories. Now, I'd rather have either a sprinkle of real sugar, or nothing at all.
store bought yogurt. I make my own and now find the texture of store yogurt absolutely disgusting.

Interestingly, I still like small amounts of mayo on sandwiches and in potato or tuna salad. For some reason, though, I guess didn't serve it much as an adult. As a result my three kids actively hate mayo and tuna salad. They also think all casseroles are gross, even though DH and I are somewhat nostalgic about them and occasionally want to serve them. I guess we created the problem, though.
