You can only say "Asians Cheat" anonymously because even though everyone familiar with academics at TJ knows the propensity to cheat among Asians is much higher than other ethnic/racial groups, if you publically speak this truth there will be an outcry and if you are an FCPS employee like the former principal you may end up finding yourself resigning, whereas if you explain that AAs are not admitted to TJ because they are not qualified even when this is clearly not true, there is no outcry, you may even get a promotion if you are an AA FCPS employee.

Interesting, cheating rate of Asian is the highest(if true) when they are in school, but crime rate of Asian is the lowest.

There probably is a correlation between unjust treatment, lack of academic opportunity, and conviction rates. I have not heard of any AA from TJ convicted of crime, unlike Susan Thanh Litwin, the Asian TJ Bookkeeper, Charged With Embezzling $279K from the school to support a gambling habit.

So I guess all the national statistics from states showing asians scoring higher on average on regular nclb standardized state tests throughout k-12 than the other racial categories means all those millions of students must be cheating on tests. It's a national scandal! Let's write it up in the newspapers and get some corrective action! How about a higher cut-off for all those undeserving asian students compared to the other races - that's pretty much what the competitive colleges have now anyway.

And I suppose given that the white students are scoring in between asians and AA much mean that the white students are only half-cheating or just not cheating as effectively as the asians. But I suppose since they only cheat ineffectively we should just give the white cheaters are pass even though we all know that the only honest students are AA.

As happy as I am about getting in, I'm pretty pissed that some of my friends didn't. For example, one girl I know scored in the top ten in State Mathcounts, is currently dual enrolling in Geometry Honors and Algebra 2, scored ~2200 on the SAT's in 7th grade, and memorized 1020 digits of pi for pi day and didn't get in.

I'm also a LMS student (I came across this website the same way you did), but I'm applying this year. Your stats are very similar to mine (except I'm in Science Olympiad), so I feel a little more hopeful. I hope I can do well on the actual test day.

Yeah, I feel pretty bad that she didn't get in, though I think this doesn't happen often, as they ran a story on NPR about that particular case. She does have a chance at applying again for her sophomore year, so all hope is not over.

My son had perfect GPA (4.0), 49/50 Math, 50/50 Verbal on the TJ exam, 2 excellent (highest) teacher recommendations (Science and Math), Honors High School Geometry for current math class, 2,160 SAT when he was 11 years (710 math, 700 Reading, 750 Writing), CTY-SET and CTY Grand Ceremony Honoree and CTY math classes, 2nd place at the TJ Math open for the highest category (geometry and above), top 10 finish at the Regional Mathcounts, Robotics Club leader, Spelling Bee champion, Swim team member, National History Day participant who wrote a major research paper that is almost a college level paper that was some 35+ pages including endnotes, annotations etc. not to mention a highly rated (by USCF) chess player and a member of Mensa since 8. He did not take any SAT or TJ prep classes. He just took those tests.

In other words, not only good at math/science but also good at verbal/humanities/writing ability and still he was not accepted.

Why are people upset that some students take test prep classes? That isn't cheating. It's studying.

It is customary for kids in Korea to go to these after school classes. They study their asses off. Those classes are enrichment classes. I don't think there is anything wrong for preparing for a test. It is no different from taking a prep class for the SAT.

I'm sorry to break it to you but many mathematicians and scientists do not speak English as their first language.

Maybe Asians cheat more at TJ because there are more Asians at the school. Asians are the majority.
If you go to a school that is predominately white, the white students are probably more likely to cheat compared to Asians because there are more white students.
If you go to a school that is predominately black, the black students are probably more likely to cheat compared to Asians because there are more black students.

But still true that she's ignorant and incompetant, so she probably should not be a couselor. White males are well represented at TJ and probably are in fact the "easiest sell" if their scores are competetive with the Asians' scores.

Tiger mom cracks the whip at home!! I have heard horror stories from Asian friends about the grief they got if they brought home anything less than 100% on a test. Pressure makes them crack, cheat, etc.
