That was largely before the US education system went to sh*t.

Actually, that was before the tech boom.

I lived in Silicon Valley in the mid 90s. Companies were desperate for IT workers. I don't have a CS degree, but the company I worked for was willing to take me on in their IT department (I segued from Finance).

We had a couple of H1 workers, one of whom was white. And this person knew several H1 workers from Europe.

IIT in India is a top STEM university, and they started to churn out IT workers. Supply met demand, and that's how the US tech industry started importing a lot more H1 workers from India.

Then these folks also got expensive here, so corporations started to offshore the jobs to India.

The IT industry has exploded since the 90s, but now we are in for a correction. This is where now supply far exceeds the demand.

That being the case we clearly need to stop importing IT workers, who are bloating the supply.

Sure, Trump can pullback on the work visas and increase the cost. He's done the latter, but I think the number of visas are set by Congress, which is controlled by Rs. I don't see them making a serious move to reduce the number.

VIDEO PROOF: H1B candidate Srivalli Avadhanula had her boyfriend feeding answers during interviews. I reported to @satyanadella & HR—response after months: "Investigated… she keeps her job."

They’re ignoring fraud while laying off honest workers. Proxy interviews, fake resumes, bodyshops—this H1B abuse hurts everyone who earns their spot.

How does this address what I stated above?

The number of visas is controlled by congress, which is currently controlled by Rs. So blame them.

Thankfully they are, because Democrats are even now introducing legislation to raise H-1B caps:

Sure, I mean the dude is Indian American and probably is supported by many high tech companies, as is Trump, btw.

But, it's not the Dems espousing "America First" with one side of their mouths, then doing nothing about reducing the size of foreign workers which is within their power to do so.

Clearly, this is a tacit nod of approval to the number of foreign work visas, especially those that Trump uses. Oh, and Trump increased the number of worker visas in the first few months of office in his first term, claiming that you can't find workers to work at his hotels, even though they got hundreds of applications from local American workers.

The job market was better under Biden. But now it's a mess, with large layoffs. Rs are in power, not Dems. So, what are MAGA Rs doing about it?

You're talking out both sides of your mouth. Trump has done plenty to help. The actions are there.

Biden ran up the inflation numbers, so the fed clamped down on monetary policy. That's why I can't sell my house, because no one can afford a mortgage.

I just can't vote for a Democrat if they're going to repeatedly trot out raising H-1b caps. They have a long history of doing so. They tried to do it under Biden countless times. Competes ACT etc.

https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/370650-hatch-bill-would-dramatically-increase-h-1b-visas/

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) plans to release legislation on Thursday that would expand high skilled immigration visas and allow the spouses and children of such visa holders to legally work in the U.S.

According to the text of the bill obtained by The Hill, Hatch’s Immigration Innovation (or I-Squared) Act would increase the cap on H-1B high skilled immigration visas from 65,000 to 85,000 a year and expand the number of visas allocated to meet demand up to 195,000.

The bill would also scrap the per-country cap on employment-based green cards.

On Dec. 2, [Trump's] the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Labor (DOL) jointly published a temporary final rule increasing the numerical limit (or cap) on H-2B nonimmigrant visas by up to 64,716 additional visas for all of fiscal year 2025.

https://www.uscis.gov/working-in-the-united-states/temporary-workers/h-2b-non-agricultural-workers/temporary-increase-in-h-2b-nonimmigrant-visas-for-fy-2025

Those are the visas his hotels use, btw. Oh, and his so-called "Truth Social" company also hires H1B workers.

Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind Truth Social, filed an application in June 2022 for an H-1B visa for a worker at a $65,000 annual salary, the lowest wage category allowed under the program. Federal immigration data shows the company was approved for a visa a few months later.

https://apnews.com/article/trump-truth-social-business-visa-h1b-51c5a41faff696709a2d2cc6ec4e2695

The article says that the company stated that they didn't hire the worker. Yea, and I got a bridge to sell you.

Records show the investment firm started by Trump’s son-in-law and White House adviser, Jared Kushner, also filed an application and was approved to hire a foreigner as an associate under the same visa program.

I just can't vote for dumb hypocrites.

I just think the premise that you have to elect Indians to do what you want and what they do is predicated by their race is flawed. Though in this case it seems to be true. Furthermore, this likely extends to any official function. We just can't trust the Indians.

I just checked, and the bill has ZERO cosponsors. None.
https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/senate-bill/2976/text

So it's not "the Dems" - it's ONE Indian-American guy, acting entirely on his own, with zero support from other Dems.

So trying to say "the Dems" was a wild swing and a miss.
