Yes, the rest of the world will give us everything we want for nothing in return.
Brilliant policy!

I love that Bessent went out there and straight up said that Americans are talentless losers managed by incompetent fools, but somehow smart foreigners can teach our morons how to be useful.

Republican Party has martyred itself for America, showing us the utter foolishness of late stage democracy.

You must be one of those immigrants that struggles to understand English, then just plain lies.

Here if you read carefully, the quote is not H-1b.

The Trump Organization sought to bring in at least 184 foreign workers in 2025 for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, two golf clubs and a Virginia winery through H-2A and H-2B visas, according to data from the Department of Labor.

Why is that better?

It's a matter of scale. 184 tech workers would be like running a tech company. H2 are occupational workers, theoretically there will be many more in the economy.

I don't really think Democrats have a hard time understanding this. I think they are willfully trying to take advantage of very small populations of workers.

As with the previous poster being quite deceitful and indirect about it.

It's so cute how Republicans think that everyone knows that working clsss people are worthless, so that it's worth mocking anyone who thinks the masses of working people deserve similar protections as the rich elites.

Does it? Would have to ask those Korean workers Hyundai brought in to train Americans, and who got shackled to tables for days before being deported.

LOL. Just came here to post this.

I guess it IS patriotic to learn math and go to woke college.

and yeh, Democrats lost in 2016 and 2024. Largely due to immigration issues.

By June 2024, “immigration” was the second most important issue among the nearly 1,600 U.S. adults polled by The Economist/YouGov that month, trailing only “inflation/prices”. Given that Trump won the popular vote by just 1.6 percentage points (49.9 percent for the Trump/Vance ticket compared to 48.3 percent for Harris/Walz), the fact that Trump did so well with swing voters was key to his victory.

Among total swing voters who ultimately chose Trump, immigration was a key issue, with 77 percent of them believing that it was “extremely” or “very accurate” to say Democrats are “not tough enough on addressing the border crisis” and 73 percent feeling the same way about Democrats “support[ing] immigrants more than American citizens”.

Moreover, 73 percent of Trump-supporting swing voters thought it was either extremely or very accurate to state that Democrats “want to take money from hard-working Americans and give it to immigrants”, 72 percent of them believed it is fair to think Democrats “don’t care about securing the border”, and 69 percent concurred with the statement that Democrats “have extreme ideas about immigration”.

And current Democrats hate the deplorables, i.e. the US working class. those RACISTS, how dare they want to support their families. maybe if Democrats focused on policies that US voters want, they would get re-elected. One of those is to help our own children first. Help our own children get good entry level jobs with health care.

when did it become moral to allow American companies to replace our own children with cheap temporary labor?

and if you really believe capitalists when they say they need workers take a look at one of many lists of layoffs. clearly you don't agree with Trump. you would have to be living in a cave to not see what is happening.

If Democrats would start focusing on US workers, stop the illegal immigration, pause the legal immigration of cheap workers, i.e. repeal H1B and OPT and L1, they would never lose. and we could start working to reverse the damage. 3 Supreme Court picks lost , how many this time?

This narrative is actually kind of old though. Trump is starting to look like Saint. All the other issues Democrats have championed have gone by the wayside. Like they never believed in climate change or anything else ever, it was all for show. They have no credibility on anything anymore. Even if they did a 180 in immigration which is virtually impossible even if they had the will to do so. It would have to go way beyond federal regulations. They would have to fix a patchwork of sanctuary laws at the state level. To show they are serious about doing it. They would have to fix academia's dependence on cheap teachers and so on.

No... Dems largely still care about climate change, workers rights, and other relevant topics. Republicans and MAGA have been successful at sh!tting on all of that and convincing mouth breathers of the same. Dems are a large tent so some groups care about certain topics more than others. I'm sure you've taken that nuance into account /s.

From my perspective the Democrats look more like Jacksonian Majoritarianism. Trying to get a nominal majority so they can exploit a minority "mudsill". If you take that mudsill away that they can exploit the whole thing folds like a tent. Who's going to provide the healthcare, who's going to build the green energy, who's going to teach the kids, who's going to make the cheap food for SNAP recipients etc. See what I mean, all of those things they depend on that one tent pole.

Deny student visas to schools in sanctuary jurisdictions. Let's see if those professors and university administrators will still support sanctuary laws.

The answer to your questions are the "we" in society. Since that is not obvious to you, you may want to take a step back and reconsider your prospective rather than spin your wheels putting a label on a complex Venn diagram of people and issues. If your answer to those questions are the Uber wealthy and oligarchs, which MAGA and Republicans have demonstrated to be their answer, then good luck to you.

To get an H1B visa, first the employer files a petition with the Department of Labor. This is rubber stamped within a week. The employer is certifying the employee has a masters degree, even if there is no employee yet.

When they file for the H1B with USCIS, if USCIS finds any violations, under the law the Department of Labor is not allowed to investigate.
