I support policies, not personalities. Trump is a demented fool. But H1-B guy loves him for some reason,

Probably, because of the 100k per new H1b fee.

I love this 100K fee, but it won't be implemented, not by this administration . Corruption that's been going on for 2 decades isn't just going to stop tomorrow. there is no political force that's going to fix this. Good luck, American grads to try to get foot int the door to the high paying professions. And good luck middle aged more expensive workers getting laid off. Learn trades, don't go to college, you can be a 6 figure plumber or electrician. Just drop out of HS, why not, what's the point of even finishing HS. This is the message we are giving to our kids while continuing to import foreign workers giving them open door to the higher paying white collar jobs.

It’s already implemented for new H1b applicants.
We will see how effective it will be.
$17000 a year, less than the savings the companies are getting.

More software developers getting fired

And yet Amazon needs to hire more entry level h1bs - Amazon is the top sponsor of H-1B visas, with over 10,000 approvals in the first half of fiscal year 2025, making it the largest H-1B sponsor among U.S. companies. The company had 14,532 approved H-1B petitions for continuing employment in FY 2025.

Amazon cut thousands of engineers in its record layoffs last month, filings show. Documents filed in New York, California, New Jersey and Amazon’s home state of Washington showed that nearly 40% of the more than 4,700 job cuts in those states were engineering roles. The data was reported by Amazon in Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filings to state agencies.

Where is Jeff and his DCUM fans that call us, the folks that want jobs for US workers, RACIST????

Please explain why big tech fires US workers and hires entry level h1bs , for “skills” that Americans do not have .

And don’t reply with crap about trump and republicans , we know they don’t care about US workers . But why have democrats abandoned US labor?

? If they got the visas in the first half of this year, which administration approved that? That's right... Trump and his MAGA America First in name only.

I see that like usual, The DCUM crowd really does not care about US workers.

They know h1b is not about skills shortage but all about cheaper desperate temporary workers

And they still want more h1bs.

We really do not have a culture anymore. Democrats are no different than republicans. At least some republicans will stop the overwhelming immigration. Not all but some. Not a single democrat will stop h1b and illegal immigration. Not a single one

It's like the only thing that universally binds Democrats, the litmus test as it is.

If you dig into their caucus abortion, climate, civil rights etc. well, those aren't universally supported, but immigration as you said not one. They view it as a "moral issue" not even on the table for conversation. There is Bernie not even really a Democrat, but he's never voted against it or for GOP measures and talks out both sides of his mouth.

There are a whole bunch of wedgie arguments, but what about GOP and Trump hiring immigrants or whatever, but nope not one Democrat as you say.

Actually, that was before the tech boom.

I lived in Silicon Valley in the mid 90s. Companies were desperate for IT workers. I don't have a CS degree, but the company I worked for was willing to take me on in their IT department (I segued from Finance).

We had a couple of H1 workers, one of whom was white. And this person knew several H1 workers from Europe.

IIT in India is a top STEM university, and they started to churn out IT workers. Supply met demand, and that's how the US tech industry started importing a lot more H1 workers from India.

Then these folks also got expensive here, so corporations started to offshore the jobs to India.

The IT industry has exploded since the 90s, but now we are in for a correction. This is where now supply far exceeds the demand.

That being the case we clearly need to stop importing IT workers, who are bloating the supply.

Sure, Trump can pullback on the work visas and increase the cost. He's done the latter, but I think the number of visas are set by Congress, which is controlled by Rs. I don't see them making a serious move to reduce the number.

VIDEO PROOF: H1B candidate Srivalli Avadhanula had her boyfriend feeding answers during interviews. I reported to @satyanadella & HR—response after months: "Investigated… she keeps her job."

They’re ignoring fraud while laying off honest workers. Proxy interviews, fake resumes, bodyshops—this H1B abuse hurts everyone who earns their spot.

How does this address what I stated above?

The number of visas is controlled by congress, which is currently controlled by Rs. So blame them.
