Guess who just “thinned the pack” at NOAA?

Even if you don’t believe in climate change, we need accurate weather reports. Trump changed that.

Not true, the forecast the day before absolutely said there was going to be rain AND flash flood warnings.

The warnings were low level until last minute (or after the fact).

Texas state and local officials might have looked outside and noticed the torrential rain in a watershed at risk of catastrophic flash floods. Do local government officials need satellites to tell them that it is raining and the river is rising? NWS issued flash flood warnings and watches beginning Thursday afternoon. The failure was at the state and local levels.

There is truth to this as well. Texas continues to fail their children.

Evangelical Christians apparently don't believe in weather warnings and would rather leave their kids at the mercy of God and nature.

Looking out the window is a stupid solution. Look at all the comprehensive data from the past. Collect reliable, comprehensive data continually , so that you can reliably predict what conditions are going to lead to this result.

There were predictions for it, but there wasn't enough staff to stay on the case or provide adequate warnings to those on the ground.

I guess we should just end the subsidies of blue states to red states and each go our own way.

Fortunately, we’re still a federal republic, and we take care of the red states. They’re obviously hypocritical “takers” (and the biggest snowflakes out there) but they still need somebody to take care of them.
Perhaps the blue states should reduce this deficit by supporting lower tax rates. They can still have higher rates in their state, which they do except for Washington and Massachusetts.

The lower tax rate is funneling money into corporations and billionaires pockets, not saving anything for blue States or red States or addressing the disparity.

You are complaining about red states as takers. Presumably this is because of the taxes. Now you want credit as a blue state for taking money from the billionaires.

Huh? I am not the PP you are replying to, but the point is, the billionaires are getting a free ride and making the working class the scapegoats. In the meantime, blue states are where most of the GDP in the country is developed and as such many of them put more into the federal system whereas more red states are net takers, paying less into the federal system than they receive.

Eh, who am I kidding? You’re incapable of that. It’s what you do - because you hate 1/2 the country.

Sadly they are still missing and the death count has gone up.

I assume you’re talking about the MAGAs? The ones who cheered on July 3 at a rally when Trump stated “I hate the democrats”.

Many red states are still going to be taker States . Many blue states are still going to be donor States. And all of us in red States and blue States are contributing to personally enriching Donald Trump and his billionaire friends. Thanks so much for voting to give so much of our money to Donald Trump and his family and friends maga.

This is a flood zone.
It has seen multiple floods over decades.
10 kids DIED IN A FLOOD IN THIS SAME AREA in the 80's.

Texas has spent over $11b on "border security" but it couldn't spend a fraction of that on a warning system in and AREA KNOWN FOR FLOODS.

Do not let these people gaslight.

I guess understanding climate is a waste of money.

It wasn't climate change warming whatever you kind called it this is a river. It is flooding. Don't be stupid. There's no hurricane is suspect about climate. Whatever change or whatever the heat didn't cause the river to rise. In fact, if there was true global warming it was too hot then the river would be very low. So there you go suck it

And what causes flooding...? Come on, you can do this!

Me, pissing in your morning cereal and coffee.

Oh come on! Rub those two braincells together! This is simple cause and effect even MAGAs should be able to understand.

Flooding is caused by excessive rain, ie. Storms. Kind of like the progressively stronger and more dangerous storms climate scientists have been warning us about for decades now.

You idiots have sleep walked us into disaster, and now your children and grandchildren will suffer the consequences of your selfishness and stupidity. Enjoy!

If it was hot it would dry out the river and be a drought no flooding

Wow, that's true!!! There are rivers in Texas so we know that temperatures there must be cool. What other science do you have for us?

And climate change means that .... the climate is changing! And it will be unpredictable.

Texas blames the National Weather Service, which is understaffed (I wonder why…). But the NWS DID warn Texas. I feel so sorry for the families of these campers. 😢

Are people back to blaming the Republican President for bad weather?
Hurricane Katrina, then Trump for COVID, not this.

It was God’s will. Thoughts and prayers go out to the grieving families.
