What are the tell-tale signs of a good guy?

My DH was married before and had two kids. So for me, although it was an adjustment, seeing him interact with his kids let me know he was a great guy. Is he a 'perfect' Dad, no way! But he loves them, is engaged, and never thinks if his time with them vs. their moms time.
Also, how he interacts with his ex. It is very telling because the handling of an ex reveals, I think, how much drama people have/ want in thier lived. He is repectful, supportive, and in general just happy that everyone is moved on and happy.
