Why aren't people protesting?

Please watch this. There is a reason why so many feel dread. Americans are naive if they think it will never happen here.

The ballot box is what counts, not prancing around in pink knit hats and waving signs and shouting, which many people perceive as merely unhinged expressions of childish frustration rather than principled or reflective of mature adult behavior. Vote when you have the opportunity. That's the only thing which brings about change.

Politicians don't look at protesters and say to themselves, "gee, maybe I should vote how that rabble wants me to instead of sticking to the platform I ran and was elected on".

Not true. Protests took LBJ down and an end to Viet Nam war.

The sheer scale of bloodshed did that.

I live in a blue state and the amount of “I don’t like Trump but…” comments I have heard are insane.

I know maybe three who think that and they are in the billionaire category. Everyone else - not secretly happy.

I’m in California and I’ve heard it multiple times. I do not think you understand the white-hot rage people feel towards the Democrats right now, right after the fires.

There are no protests here in California for a reason.

How are Democrats responsible for the fires?

Tree and brush management as just one example.

People don't want to protest. They want to see other people protesting in the street. Where are our troops?

This! Everytime I see trump repealed this, drug prices up, tariffs that , this will cost more. Bring it on. I'm looking forward to the coming recession.

We knew what we were voting against, conservatives seem to have no idea what they were voting for. Let them have it.

What planet are you on? MAGA wants no government regulations and red tape. This is what republicans mean by no regulations and rules. You think regulations about tree and brush management are government over reach. Houston’s flooding is an example no regulations and rules. Your dream world.

Protesting is about raising awareness. At this point, everyone is awareness. There is nobody left who will change their mind about him. Almost half of this country wants it this way.

What we can do is protest by boycotting these oligarchs’ products. Get off of X, Meta, TT, Amazon. Are we gonna make them go broke? Of course not. But they will lose clout and it would be a tremendous blow to their egos if their products lost popularity. And it takes their voice away.

And support anyone who speaks out against them. I just donated to the Episcopal Diocese of Washington and ordered Bishop Budde’s book.

That’s why he’s tying to control social media and the Post - to keep people in their disinformation bubbles.

This. He says he loves the uneducated.

They have messaging that dissuades young people from attending college and suggests they make the big bucks at Chipotle.

Of course, Hannity attended college and sent his kids to top schools…but don’t mind that!!

What is protesting going to do? change Speaker Johnson's mind? Leader Thune's mind? Elon's mind?

I've protested so many times, I've worn out several pairs of shoes.
The result: Nada. Nothing changes. Protests do nothing at all but waste money and time that could be spent doing something, anything, that will have an impact.
I'm spending time volunteering for organizations that are filing lawsuits and taking other action to protect our rights.
I want to spend my time pushing back against the oligarchs that are taking over the federal government.

No need to throw ourselves in front of the train wreck of GOP leadership for the next couple of years.

Time for people to get what they voted for.

It's so sad, but I think a lot of us hardworking Democrats are resigned to let the GOP have its way and ruin the economy, again, but this time, the Democrats are not going to pick up the pieces. Let 'em rot.

Wow, NYT no longer allowing me to access shared articles since I cancelled my subscription. But, yes, I believe like you do that Americans are too trusting. We aren’t guaranteed clean water, or fast internet, or decency healthcare. We have to demand it. Our constitution is is on a piece of paper, we give it meaning.

While I’m not thrilled, I can still afford it. My Trump voting cousin on the same medicine I’m on who makes $48k will struggle. Oh well! Find a way, cousin!

Yeah. I can afford eggs that cost $8 per dozen.
The Maggots who voted for the POS can't. They live paycheck to paycheck, and they're in debt. And their debts will grow.
Fox will blame the Dems for higher prices caused by the POS's ridiculous policies.
Tariffs anyone? We get a lot of timber and energy from Canada. I can afford higher prices for lumber and energy, but can the Maggots? I doubt it. I hope their houses are cold all winter long. It's what they voted for and what they deserve.

Everyone protested on those social media platforms and now their oligarchs are standing next to Trump helping to tank this country. Democrats need to ditch the woke bs and run on using antitrust to break up these oligarchs.

And we could learn a thing or two from South Korea. They know better than to take democracy for granted.
