Guess who won’t be prosecuting crime in the District!

You voted for this, dumb conservatives.

30 prosecutors who sat by for 2 years and watched violent crime spike in DC. Good riddance.

It's actually down now. But, I'm sure you're right. Having no one to prosecute at all will be better.

The crime stats in recent years are worthless. Ask anyone in law enforcement. .

As has already been discussed in this thread, murder stats can't be massaged and murder is down.

The thread is about “violent” crime, not just murder. The folks who are getting robbed by a pack of thugs in Crestwood? That’s a violent crime too.

I believe violent crime is down from 2023. I’m sincerely worried about anyone who buys the story it’s the lowest in 30 years. They’re a walking victim for any con.

Not to mention that many crimes have been decriminalized in the past 5 years. So the stats are artificially down, if down at all.

Yeah, lowest in 30 years sounds like the standard lie that prevailed last 4 yrs. Given the number of public servants it oughtta be safest since forever - who can't have the few blocks of a capital low crime? Oh wait, yeah, DC last 4 yrs.

Murder is up 44 percent YoY in DC so far in 2025. Where are the "crime is way down" posters?

I think Trump is a felon who belongs behind bars, and his administration is off to a corrupt start. But why would we expect local crime in D.C. to soar under his administration? That's just not something the president usually has any effect on one way or the other.

Is this a joke? The president appoints the U.S. attorney who oversees prosecution of nearly all violent crime in DC. The last two (one appointed by Trump, one by Biden) have been catastrophes in terms of going after violent criminals. So yes, the president has a massive effect on crime in DC.

The new AUSA for DC just fired a ton of staff and is more worried about political revenge an “DEI” than DC crimes. He’s from Missouri and I doubt he even lives in DC or has even set foot in any of it’s neighborhoods.

My impression is that crime in DC is driven by a combination of how youth feel (do they have hope) as well as how strictly the law is enforced. “Return to the office” should provide more employment opportunities in DC for youth. It is unclear to me how aggressively the new AUSA will prosecute crime.

Crime should go down since ICE is arresting the criminals.

Uh, you do know who's committing most of the crime in DC, don't you? Think about that for a minute.

I know males under age 26 are committing most of the violent / serious crimes in DC.

I also know Charles Allen led the legislation re-defining “juvenile offender” to everyone under age 26.

So those 25 year-old “juvenile offenders” will never see a single night of jail time, and MPD will just “release them into their parents’ custody” LOL.

The DC criminal code is a bad joke, thanks largely to Allen and his progressive cronies.

Follow some of the independent crime reporters online. Robberies and car-jackings every day. In broad daylight. Stats can say anything you want them to.

+100 Charles Allen is a fool. I say that as a Trump hating Democrat who lived in Allen's district. He needs to go.

Still can't believe he lied about being assaulted to try to make himself look halfway human.

Why would it soar above where it was under Trump in his first term or under Biden, though?

Crime in DC started to rise during Trump's first term, and it's directly tied to the USAO's rising declination rate. That rise continued under Biden. Seriously, go look at arrest records that are publicly available online. The number of criminals who tell police something along the lines of "just no-paper me so I can go back to what I was doing" is pretty amazing. They know that in most cases, they'll face zero punishment.
