What are some restaurants or stores that you WILL NOT shop at?

What is Bucky's?

Buc'ee's and PP is missing out Buc'ee's is the place to be.

It's like the Costco of gas stations. They have good food, household goods, clothes, gardening stuff, everything. They are a southern thing.

I’m from TX and I avoid Bucee’s like the plague. It’s crowded in a TX way. It’s huge in a TX way. It’s loud in a TX way. . . . and everyone is over 300 lbs. They have clean restrooms, BUT the people coughing and sneezing all over them will still make you sick.

I love people who take a stand against purchasing luxury goods. Do you talk about your aversion to these brands? Do you sneer at people with LV purses or Chanel sunglasses? I mean, this is like saying you won't ever visit Eritrea. When and how does this ever come up?

Popeyes - same as above
Michaels - useless crap

I rarely go but when I do, I marvel at all the things they have that I never knew I wanted. I'm sad for you that you don't get to enjoy this.

I suppose I have to be Captain Obvious.

I avoid slaughter houses and chicken farms. Actually, I avoid all concentrated feeding operations (CAFOs) because of the smell. I don’t necessarily avoid the food though.

I went in once and the restrooms were fine. But no cleaner than any of the highway rest stops I’ve been to lately. As a gimmick, I was unimpressed.

Red Lobster?

I use to go to Red Lobster because they integrated when it was illegal.

Anonymous wrote:Walmart. I just can't. I went the other day and it was as bad as ever and I had to walk out. People randomly standing everywhere not doing anything, empty shelves, merchandise all over the place, people in various states of undress (pajamas, bras only on top, pants falling down), kids running everywhere, babies screaming. I don't understand the dysfunction of both the place and the people there. I shop all over the city and never see anything like that at the grocery store, Target, restaurants (even fast food restaurants). Also, their clothing is horrible. Target has much better clothing (albeit dubious style choices).

To be clear, I don't think people shop at Walmart because they enjoy the ambiance...

Yeah, but I think some people do. It's got its own vibe and its an institution in a lot of places, so I think it's possible.

I think you're making their point...

I won't go to Dunkin Donuts. The coffee is too acidic, the donuts give me heartburn and it just seems like a lame Boston cult.

LWNJs own Ben and Jerry’s. Plus it’s way overpriced; they are super-greedy.

It’s like $1 more than the generic store brand, but ok.

There are so many premium brands now that B&J's is on the low-end... yes, still more expensive than store bought, but a lot of the money does still go to good causes. I'm just not in love with all the flavors—I prefer a simpler... I love Jeni's for that (which is more expensive), but the kids love all the B&J wackiness.

They sold out to corporate interests a long time ago. Unilever is the owner and any virtue signaling is literally virtue signaling.
