Then be prepared to be shocked. It’s a partnership - BRAVE players and families want MV. He will be coaching teams too.

Thank you! Where is all of this anti-MV stuff coming from? He's really good -- clear, honest, straightforward. My daughter appreciated him as a coach.

Because he’s accomplished nothing at this level and he isn’t a strong brand to attract players or college coaches.

MV had a whole age group quit on him and leave the club. That’s a huge red flag.

And they all ended up in much better situations.

This sums up MV in a nutshell. No real coaching or development. If it goes well, it’s because the team has talent and he’ll take credit. If it doesn’t, full spin cycle. He wasn’t the coach or it’s the players fault for sucking. He’ll claim victory for the 08s relative success. He’s not listed as the coach but he’s the coach in this case. 09s crash and burn, he’s not the coach. He’ll demand that he coaches the 08 at Union for a third year because good players overcome mediocre coaching. No real substance. I can confirm that they did not all end up in a much better situation.

By this argument, it means the strongest Union teams exist because of the talented (SYC) players and not due to the McLean coaching or player pool.

With re: to MV as a coach, I wasn't on the field and able to hear what he said during training. My daughter was, and she liked his coaching style. She was learning. She was improving. She was happy. That's all I cared about as a parent.

Thanks MV. Good to see that you’re monitoring the forums.

Let us know how you feel after he has been your coach for > 4 years. Development still happening or are you just doing the same thing you've always done? How many of your teammates have left because they want new coaching and leaving the club is the only way to get one.

Once she was out maneuvered and Arlington was given ECNL, all these current events became inevitable. Every move since has been an attempt to only stay in power and protect her income.

Wouldn’t surprise me if she was removed after all of this although the BOD has been complicit in the mismanagement of the club over the years too.

Nice chunk of change for a yearly salary.

She makes more than GP at Arlington (double the size). Someone is about to get a pay raise.

For a nearly $5m organization, her pay is actually quite low.

BRAVE players and families request MV as coach every year.

Does MV have a good college network like BL, NM, and CW?

08s want MV because he will pick his team for FXU but don’t want the same coach for 4 years.

I don't have a personal stake in the MYC/VYS/BRYC "merger" issue. I've had some kids play with VYS and BRYC, both rec and travel for a couple years, and have nothing bad to say about either one of them. I still have a kid who plays house with each of them as well.

My take on the issue is that, just as Arlington is a strong club that draws from most of Arlington County, there should me a much stronger club that draws from Fairfax County. Fairfax is too big for one "Fairfax" club, but that region that includes VYS/BRYC/MYS (and maybe a few other clubs) could be consolidated into a much larger and more competitive club. Maybe it's Central Fairfax or Nothern Fairfax (the southern part of Fairfax seem well-served by SYC and Alexandria).

I know change can be hard, but performance seems to show that the smaller clubs in that area would benefit from merging their assets (fields, coaches, players).

Just my two-cents.

Lots of families, mine included, prefer small clubs. My kids were never going to play college, so we didn't care about the top leagues. We did care about getting decent practice fields and coaching and found that we were better off having a kid on the top or only team at a small club than on a middle team at a large club

I don’t think that’s the issue. For me, it’s clear that whoever coaches for a particular age group will favor their current players and field preference. If it’s a brave coach, expect that age group to be 90% brave players and with practices in Robinson or Woodson. Then in year 2, that same age group goes to a MYS coach. Expect half of that team to turnover back to the MYS coaches players from two years ago. The key is who gets the U16 and U17 ages because of recruiting. If MYS coaches, expect Brave players to be searching for plan B during these critical years. If Brave coaches, you get the point.
