Unless ECNL is requiring McLean to merge, the club should just bail out now. If BRAVE indeed evaporates, McLean ECNL is instantly better off (without doing a thing), as all of the displaced BRAVE players will be trying out for McLean (and everywhere else) anyway.
There is very little to be gained by actually going through with a merger with this dying club at the high cost of losing existing players and coaches. Why buy the cow when you get the milk for free? By going forward with the merger, McLean risks alienating all of its existing coaches - and any current players who don’t want to lose their coach. If there are some BRAVE coaches that Mclean likes (yeah, uh…) they will all be available soon. Kill the merger, post the coaching lineup, and ID session dates ASAP or risk losing current coaches and talent. Are there any real businesspeople looking at this for McLean? |
Any views on GA vs. ECNL? |
This is a well known [GA/ECNL] hater. CONFIRMED! |

Wait, who is the dying club here? The one who just last month unexpectedly lost their talent pipeline? The one who is rushing this?
I’d love to see how Union does the next few years without SYC or another club feeding it talent. |
the same could be said for any of the large clubs in these mergers. the soccer directors have long subscribed to a "new = better" marketing strategy knowing that american parents who know very little about the game will follow their lead. meanwhile the brand value of the legacy clubs is an afterthought (if thought of at all) and will never be recouped. this is what happens when club leaders let the tail wag the dog. |
OMG amazing response I almost spit my drink on the screen. haha

| Of course ECNL is forcing McLean to merge. Just like they did last time. |
no one is forcing mclean to do anything |
You’re so silly silly. Who is the silliest? You, big fella! |
|
Does anyone really think ECNL would drop McLean if they refused this merger? So ECNL
would willingly lose Brave and McLean simultaneously? ECNL did not make McLean do this. This is 100% McLean mistakenly thinking that an alliance is how they capitalize on Brave’s demise. Dude - you won when your nearby competitor went away. Sit back and watch the Brave players and coaches come to you. An alliance is just the exact wrong move. |
This. |

Fear the brave…
Errr bunions |
Wishful thinking but it’s ecnl forcing two clubs with issues to merge. No backing out at this point. Any near term collateral damage will be overcome in the long term or through additional mergers. If that doesn’t sound like a real businesspeople running things then you don’t know business. |
| F…V…U…Forever! |
Lol - “real” business people. The only thing lower than BRAVE’s business acumen is their futbol acumen. |
