Any HS should take her if she decides not to retire or decides to return from retirement (happens more often than you hear).

We should know either June 11th or 25th.

The person will be out of the school but within the district. I'm on the parent committee and we're looking at one of the middle school magnet principals (not TPMS).

Isn't that supposed to be confidential - who interviews? I mean, you didn't say a name but my goodness!

And the panel asks questions and gives feedback but doesn't select the final candidate. Anyone who interviewed is being considered!!

+1 I've been on one of these and even five years later I don't talk about who we interviewed and where they ended up. Certainly not mid-stream. There are also only a handful of parents involved at this phase, so OP is pretty recognizable assuming they aren't trolling.

Aside from the speculation of the person possibly on the committee, I was wondering about Lisa Shorts, who has been principal at Eastern MS (right by Blair) for a couple of years and seems to have a lot of energy and drive.

She hasn't even finished her second year at Eastern; seems too soon to make the jump to HS.

Maybe it’s a former middle school magnet principal (I’m still holding out hope for Deeny!)

Veteran parents, I have a genuine question. Historically, do they hire these folks from middle schools or from the ranks of high school APs?

High school seems like such a different beast compared to the other two levels that I kind of expected they would be promoting assistant principals, but I'm wondering what you've seen.

They have done both in the past. If it's a middle school principal moving up a level, they have often spent some time in a HS previously. Like the current principals of RM and Churchill had been MS principals when they were hired, but they had each served as HS APs before that.

She lives in Howard County. I think she is done with driving to MoCo.

Why would Deeny leave one of the top highs schools in the county?

Because Deeny would be going to THE crown jewel of the county.

^^
Correction: Crown jewel of the State.

Well, the gig can't go to someone who is an AP unless they're very seasoned, and it needs to be someone familiar with magnet. Therefore, it must be a sitting principal in MCPS that's on the MS/HS level. If they're already at a HS, it's like making a lateral move and wouldn't make sense. Therefore, you have to expand to middle school magnet principals - the TPMS & Eastern ones are green.

He knows how to turn on the charisma for the CO, but the people that work for him don't hold him in high regard.
