OP, the reason why the "diversity" factor and Crown HS are being discussed here is because it will impact Crown HS. So, a current student who may or may not like Wootton today won't matter when Crown HS opens because all the schools, including Wootton, will look a bit different, and so the experience may be different.
Like any school, some kids will like Wootton and some won't. Your question is too vague to begin with. |
Stone Bridge is zoned to QO. Hunting Woods is nice but the sidewalks on 28 are such that to walk to Wootton, you have to cross 28 twice. Assuming you were talking about walking to school safety, not neighborhood safety? They're all safe neighborhoods. |
| Outsider observation - Wootton seems to be falling apart compared to other local high schools. Is there any renovation plan in the near future? |
Stonebridge is stonemill ES, zoned for Wootton. |
Yes, but it's been delayed and is currently scheduled for completion in 2029. https://gis.mcpsmd.org/cipmasterpdfs/MP24_Chapter4Wootton.pdf |
And is not a rebuild, but an attempt to fix the existing ADA problems and bus loop/parking/student drop off problems. |
Wootton parent here. My children love the school and the students. The kids are generally sweet and easy--so yes, your child will make friends. The teachers are kind and love to teach. I don't think it's cut throat or competitive. My children said it's pretty manageable if you pay attention in class and study (ha!). The parents are nice and the kids seem very well-adjusted. Our only issue is that we wish the county pours some resources into making the building nicer for the students and the teachers. It's old and its occupants do deserve a nicer building to learn and thrive in. Please don't listen to all the noise on this thread--focus on your child. |
