St Albans forfeits football game today- why?

Cathedral school family here. Don’t think we are superior. Just like our school and want our children to have a positive experience. That being said- this is high school. Kids make poor decisions and things happen. It’s not exclusive to one type of school or another or one socioeconomic group to another. Whatever this was - bullying, hazing, inappropriate behavior. It exists everywhere you have teens.

That statement applies here only if it is determined that the behavior in question is not of a criminal nature. That does not exist “everywhere you have teens.”

Um,I would venture to say that yes, you have "criminal" behavior any place you have teens. Maybe not every day but it pops up with regularity across high school settings. Drug sales/use, theft, hazing---even assault and rape. Tell me one campus across the DMV that hasn't had an incident of one of these in the past 5 years.

Is the football team any good?

Would they have won? DJO's team is improving but their starting QB is injured.

Bishop DJO is not very good at football. St. Albans isn't very good either. I'd say St. Albans might have the advantage because they had some beef along the line of scrimmage. But who knows? Neither team is a factor in its respective conference.

They lost to Saint Stephens

Has SSSA always been bad in football? I saw they just lost by 40ish to Maret. Or is Maret that good?

You're totally wrong. It's not about the kids. It's about the lack of adult supervision and too much investment in the sports culture.

You can say a lot of negative things about STA but that last sentence is pretty false about the culture there. There are a ton of adults around and the academic pressure rule the culture, not sports, and most certainly not football.

Red-shirting is a way to game the game. STA does plenty of that and it's not for academic rigor.

The last few posters seem transparently affiliated with sta. "I'm not affiliated with sta, but boy do I admire how they're handling it!"

If you're gonna do fake pr, be less obvious about it.

I am one of the PPs you referred to. I am
Not “transparently affiliated” with STA, just disgusted by people like you who are rubbernecking a high school discipline issue. If it turns out to be a criminal matter, we will all hear about it. If it’s less than that, none of us have any right to the information.

Maret is good but not a powerhouse. That said, you can catch the viral clip of the Maret receiver faking the pants off of a SSAS DB, it’s a worthwhile view.

Maret is not good what are talking about.

It will be easier to predict once it is known which players/coaches will/won’t be on the STA sidelines at the next game. Whenever that might be.

Red shirting is a college thing -- not a HS thing.

Sure it is. Have the kid repeat 9th for “academic” (I mean athletic) reasons when switching from public.

And I’m sure that in STA’s case that request very rarely has anything to do with athletics. I know of two kids who stayed back a year to join STA and neither has any interest in sports.

this thread has completely lost the plot. this isn't about who is good at football.

It’s a good diversion by STA, don’t you think?
