Why can't police find the escaped prisoner in Philly?

Anonymous
As guessed buy some on this thread, he was shot by a homeowner. This is on NBC. He was found in their garage and they shot him. Good for the homeowner.

There is nothing about his crab walking video that looked Black. You likely assumed he was Black. Really.

Yeah, again I need PP to explain how she thought he was black. Even with his curly hair out, he’s not black or AA presenting whatsoever. I’m an AA fwiw.

Not PP. but he is very clearly BIPOC. Which means he is in great danger from the police just executing him, and getting away with it.

NP, the PP was responding to the person who posted that they thought he was Black. You are off topic.

He was shot at, but not shot. He is unharmed and now armed with a rifle he stole from the garage.

It's interesting. I don't know if he's smart or the cops are dumb but it looks like the cops are dumb.

So he escapes but doesn't really escape. SERE is about survival, evade, resist, escape. He def survived and evaded. He doesn't seem like he really wants to "escape" in the sense of going to a different place the cops will have difficulty getting him (aka Mexico). It feels like he was "smart" enough to not get caught for almost 2 weeks with 400 cops on his tail yet he's really stuck around the same area which I think is really odd. He had transportation and dumped it but didn't seek to move out - instead, he asked for help and let himself be seen on camera. Feels like he doesn't really have a plan yet he's still on the loose!

So the cops - I do think that they are idiots. They prob could have done more to contain him in a rural area. Perimeter is only effective if you ensure it holds. Obviously that was easily broken by someone who had nothing. I get that if he survived the Brazillian jungle he's prob better than average the typical US convict. However, they had days to get him in that perimeter. I don't understand why they didn't close in? 400 cops with dogs to track his scent - I don't get it? What was the point of the perimeter? Then, they set no road blocks or Plan B scenarios for him getting past the perimeter which he did so without a back up plan, they had no leverage moving forward.

So now, it seems like all they can rely on are cameras and the hope that nonLEOs are smarter and may be able to get him but looks like LEO is out of plays. At this point, it's more about luck in getting him. If he is smart, I bet he does get away. I don't think he is though, I think that the police were beyond idiots. He's been lucky and he may continue to be.

Most were predicting that the police would be doing the shooting.

Feel free to apply for a job with law enforcement so that you can raise the intelligence level.

Maybe they will shoot him because he’s a 2 time murderer, prison escapee with a gun, not because he’s BLPOC.

Everyone makes mistakes, right? That doesn’t justify getting the death penalty from racist cops.

Escaping from prison doesn't exactly imply that he has learned from any of his mistakes.

Yikes! But yeah if an escaped murderer was in my garage we'd likely shoot him too.

OMG if 500 police incl FBI, Marshalls, Penn State police and ABT cannot find this one guy or if it takes them more than a couple days, the US has a really big problem in this country.

This guy is not THAT smart. He's not. Maybe not your standard US idiot jailbird but come on - 2 weeks later, he's still around the same area!

I give it 2 days and they will catch him - prob dead but if not - the longer he is free the less likely they get him because it's just more time he has to flee. And let's face it 500 cops on his trail - from different agencies with their expertise - good god.

You are all really obnoxious. For weeks, in this heat, those officers have had to leave their families and search high and low through densely wooded areas. It would be easy for someone to hide, still each day. In a bush or tree.

The idiots are the civilians who are leaving cars with keys in them, and guns in plain sight, overnight in an unlocked garage, next to their ammunition!!!!

Do you know how much harder and more dangerous that makes LE’s job? He can easily highjack a car now, and go anywhere. The homeowner from last night should be charged for his reckless behavior.

Posters on here are making him sound like some hero!

That kind of thing is literally the only reason we have a gun in the house at all.

They missed and it would have been a lot better if they didn’t have a loaded gun unsecured in their garage in the first place.

You don’t believe in second chances?

NP. I believe he deserves prison instead of the death penalty (e.g. a second chance). I believe that he deserves to be captured and not killed by the police (a third chance). However, one he steals a gun and arms himself, he is now a dangerous murderer who is likely to be a repeat offender. At that point, he does not deserve another chance to kill someone. If he no longer has the gun and is not a danger to kill someone else, he should be caught alive. However, stealing the gun from the garage, and being a convicted murdered, he no longer gets that consideration. And it really doesn't matter what his race is at that point. Any escaped convicted murderer that has stolen a gun and armed themselves, will get whatever treatment is necessary to ensure they do not kill again.

Are you kidding? They have 400!!!!! police committed to finding him. It's not about how hard their job is. It's about how effective they are at their jobs. So you're suggesting that someone who is doing their job in the heat should be given a medal? I mean honestly, no, it should NOT be easy for someone to hide in a specific space with 400 people closing in. Not just people but people who should have the expertise of knowing how and where to look who are managed by those especially know where and how to look. They also have some dogs who definitely know how to find someone so something is wrong here - there are A LOT of people wondering whether this guy is some genius or the police are morons cause this is not what is expected to happen.

He should NOT be able to highjack a car - this has nothing to do with ordinary citizens being reckless. This has to do with LEOs who provide for the safety of ordinary citizens doing their jobs. Admittedly it was smart citizens aren't helping the efforts but this is NOT the job responsibility they are charged with, it's police.

Posters on here are making the point that this is a story of 400 police who cannot do their jobs effectively and it's 100% true! There is no excuse. 13 days. A guy who has nothing with him.
